It's crazy that people on here think that salaries in the range of $150k are commonplace.

It isn't even just that. But if you had a HOUSEHOLD income of 150k, you are >90% of the country.

There should be consideration for net worth as well.

Upper Middle class in my mind is at least 120k* gross earnings and at least 300k* net worth.

*Amounts subject to change based on continuing research.

Upper middle class: 2012 Lexus RX 330 with Ursuline magnet and understated "31A" sticker in rear window

Middle middle class: 2008 Honda minivan with bumper stickers for St. Edward the confessor and stick figure family wearing Disney ears in the window

Lower middle class: 2013 F250 with oversized SALT LIFE window treatment and "my kid could beat up your honor student" bumper sticker.

Income Percentile CalculatorAccording to the link, a married couple making $75,000 would fall into the 50% percentile and a married couple making $125,000 would fall into the 75%. To answer your question I would say around $125,000.

WTF people...

$250k for a family of 6 is upper middle class IMO. I wouldn't call that upper class.

Because many are in school and still believe the dreams that the professors are weaving.

Must be college kids. I hope they don't off themselves when they graduate and find out what real world salaries are.

I'd say class is based more upon assets, liquid or otherwise, than salary. My old man worked his entire life and never made more than $100k/year, still a millionaire.

Dade county is very big. Median Income of the city I grew up in was $125k and it had 70k residents. It is an average suburb in the area as well.

So upper middle class ends at the 98th percentile of income?
