Sports still had "Sports Illustrated" sign up, but nobody called it that.
Correct. They officially changed the name (and the sign) when they got a cease and desist letter from the mag's lawyers. It had been named that for at least 10 years, though.

The original Louie's, the one before this one, sat like 8 people and was called Castle's or something before Louie's.
Highland had Murphy's, The Bengal, Cotton Club, that gay bar, and what The Tiger?

Murphy's taught me 3 things. How to hold my piss, how to duck, and how to throw a punch.
These punk kids today wouldn't last one night at Murphy's.

It was one of the places that helped me learn how to take a punch. Unfortunately, I never really learned well how to throw one.

When I was at LSU, it was Faps and Zacharys in Tigerland, and The White Horse and The Brassrail on Highland north. Would occasionally make runs to San Souci in Port Allen and Chucks in Addis.
Do I know you?

Marc Fraioli, the current owner of Fred's, was also half-owner of Murphy's with Bennett
and mark Kilpatrick owned shanahans. All were fraternity brothers of mine, but they were a bit older

it was owned by Steve Bonfanti who owns all the Sammy's Restaurant real estate.
I see and talk to him every six weeks. He still owns plenty of property and is involved in some places.
Hell, if Tigerland could put good money in Anthony R(RIP big guy!) and Tiger Todd's pockets..then you know guys like Big Mike, Steve B, Billy S, Darren A, Bennett M, JL, etc..were gonna make a fortune.

Why does Murphy's sound like it was a fight club with skanks and booze?

Original 3rd partners real name. Hated it and wanted in, so they named the bar Fred's.
