Do dogs just one day decide to hate their food?

Calling all dog owners, do dogs just one day decide their food sucks and it's time to enact a hunger strike? I have a two-year-old dog I've been feeding him the same food for the last year and all of a sudden he hates it. He seems fine, no stomach issues or strange behavior. Just all the sudden he'll eat his food over a 8 hour period rather than all at once.

If he gets hungry enough, he'll eat

Sounds normal to me. I put my dogs food out in the morning and at 9 pm she's still eating

Our dachshund did that about 6 months ago. Just got a new flavor and she eats it now.

don't feed him for a week. that'll teach him to be a little bitch about his food. he's a fricking dog

It's a fricking dog.I don't give a shite what my dog prefers to eat. He can eat it or he can find his own damn food.

Yes. Happens all the time. Our 3 year old golden just did this. We started putting warm water on his food for a while. He liked that. He got over it and he eventually started downing his bowl in about 30 seconds again.

My dog is a grazer. Don't really care that much as he is a fricking dog

My dog never ate his food all at once. Sometimes it'll last him two-three days.
But yeah, he has changed his tastes a few times over the years.
Maybe something is wrong with the bag of food you got him.

Since dogs like to eat each others shits, I'd like to market turd flavored snacks.

yea they get picky from time to time but if they are hungry they will eat it

I feed mine on a schedule. If he makes the mistake of being picky at one meal, the food still gets picked up after half an hour or so, and by the time the next meal comes around, guaranteed that bowl will be empty in a few minutes.

If you don't notice any other issues, I wouldn't worry about it. Has anyone in the house been feeding him table food on the side? He may be holding out. If he eventually eats, don't sweat it.

I'm not saying you are, but please don't be one of these sissy dog owners........Dogs will eat when they're hungry; end of story.
Don't cave in to his whinings.

If they have constant access to food, they'll eat whenever they feel like it.

Try eating a turkey sandwich every day for your entire life. You'd begin to grow tired of it.

Yep. Changed to Pro Plan Duck. No problem with them eating now.

I buy cans of wet food ($1 each) and use 2-3 tablespoons on top of her dry food. Stick it in the microwave a little.. Mix it good so it coats the dry food.
Not at all expensive, and she always eats every bite.
Eta: I free feed. She usually eats it all when I give it to her though.
