The Falcons released Gonzalez's rights. Cheap one year deal for a contender ala the Saints?

If you could talk Gonzalez into another year and I don't think you could, he wouldn't be cheap...

@RapSheet: Tracy Porter is visiting the #Giants tonight, according to a source. Played well for the #Raiders last year

I guess we blew our big load and now we are going to bargain shop when things cool down. I haven't heard our names tied to any other free agents. Has anyone else?

Nope. I'm starting to think this was our plan all along. I mean I know it was because we did it, but man this Byrd thing threw me for a loop.

And now we'll definitely have to restructure one or two guys before signing anyone above much more than vet minimum.

I really think Payton is going with the full out youth movement.

I saw Miles Austin was released today. Dont be surprised if we kick the tires.

low risk, high reward. Should be able to get pretty cheap.

Dirt cheap because his hamstrings suck.

You want some high miliage players for some reason (MJD), and that's the opposite of the direction we're obviously going.

We could bring Lance Moore back for less than we'd pay Austin.

I still say sign Steve Smith, sons.

Say that 5 times fast.

so you are saying signing a veteran is out of the question?

Veteran on a 1 year deal doesnt ruin the direction we are going

Old ones with health issues that are slowing or have been slowing down, yes, I find it unlikely. I really doubt we'd sign MJD. I mean they rode him hard, and RB's usually decline the fastest.

No, but it doesn't go look like what we're going to. I just don't see it happening, that's all.

Packers have re-signed OLB Mike Neal. I know they were looking at Haralson, so that could be good for us.

De'Anthony Thomas ran a 4.37 and 4.34 at Oregon's pro day. Much better than his combine performance.

Center Evan Dietrich Smith signs with TB. As time goes by, DLP's cost goes down. He can back up all interior OL positions and could obviously still start if we want to go another direction in the draft.

Hopefully the Titans's terrible deal with Oher doesn't affect Strief too much. Strief is a much better player, though he doesn't have any movies about him.
