Should come watch some games this year if you live in Lafayette and can't make it to BR. We should have another solid squad. Fun to watch at the plate with Coach Degg's hitting philosophy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. A name change doesn't do jack ti advance into Tier 1. You accomplish that by increasing tuition, raising admission standards, conducting more research, forcing faculty to publish, hiring better faculty, increasing curriculum difficulty, increasing out of state student enrollment, increasing graduate program offerings, etc.
A name change doesn't do jack.

UL-L baseball fans are the worst.
Agree x1000. They still think it's the year 2000. Quite comical really. Between Ragin Pagin and local radio, you would of thought this was "The Game of the Century"...I guess for ULL fans it was. When LSU went up 5-0 in the top of the third, the look on every Cajun fans face was PRICELESS. It was literally a funeral afterwards.
Kicking their arse for regionals was icing on the cake. Loved every inning of it.

Not going to lie, I made a few other games too. I root for UL when they're not playing us, and I'm fully on board with improving the university. I get frustrated, however, when I see things that could legitimately be done to raise the university's profile go undone, while people bitch and complain about a name.

I'm sure you had as much fun as we did winning our weeknight game against the tigers in 2011.
Last years game was a pretty big deal because that was the first time LSU had played us at home in a long time. I don't see a problem with Cajun fans being excited about it.

University is in the middle of implementing their campus master plan, with an athletics master plan just beginning. I've seen their plans on the academic side with offering more doctorate level options, as well as implementing research requirements even for adjunct/assistant/associate professors.
They're working on the improving the university profile at a blistering pace. Yep, the name shite gets out of hand - but you'll see more of that on fan forums than actual University news.

I think raising admission standards would be a big step in the right direction for ULL. Too many kids end up there who are clearly not fit or ready for college, IMO.

Baseball fans are the mainly the ones who give the fan base a bad rep.
It's hard man, I'm an alum and I love the school. But at the same time, I realize what the school is.
I think that's why I'm such a big Cajun basketball fan. It's the same 1,500-2,000 people every game. No bandwagon fans, no unrealistic expectations.
I always have mixed emotions about the team getting better. I'd love for them to be a good team, but at the same time, all the baseball fans and now football fans will start showing up. They bring all the BS.
So, take it from this UL-L alum, not everyone who is a fan of the university is an insane person.
The name is what it is. It's really not a big deal to me. Whether you support the school being UL or want it to be UL-L, it is stupid how much people care about this on both sides of the argument.
ETA: Adding seats to Cajun Field is the absolute, let me repeat, THE ABSOLUTE, dumbest thing the athletic department could possibly do.

Nothing is that simple in Louisiana. Don't think we can just raise our admission standards or increase tuition.

The thing is, at least for me as a Tiger fan and alum, losing these games or any game doesn't get me down. Life goes on. Butttttttttt for that ULL/LSU baseball game. You could tell all the ULL fans went the extra mile for this game. They bought up almost all the tickets. They had a lot of emotions wrapped up into this game. People were taking off of work to tailgate for this game. For ULL to lay a goose egg and not only lose but get the shite kicked out of them was frickING AWSOME! By the third inning that stadium was silent. That night ULL STTDB

Enrollment is supposed to surpass 20,000 in the next few years.

Cajun basketball has been shite ever since Jesse Evans left. Our attendance was consistently over 5000 per game back then.

I think I saw one tailgate, and they're always up.
Of course the game was packed... it was LSU's first trip back in a while, and a lot of people are fans of both.

No shite sherlock. Actually, they made the tournament Lee's first year when he inherited OG, Dwayne, Tiras, Cameron and B-Ham.
Dumbasses like you are what makes me scared of the basketball team getting good again.
Stick to your crusade for the name change.

Their mission, as defined by the owners of the school, the citizens of La, is to teach those students. All they can do is try to recruit more high end students. AS it is, they wailed to high heaven, at least in the early days of SLCC, which relieved them of the unprepared students.
Adjuncts make a few grand a class. Can't imagine they'd make them research for adjunct money.

Is that really a good thing if admission requirements remain as low as they are? I'm honestly asking because on one hand I can see more students being good, but on the other, quality > quantity.

What the hell is up your arse? I wasn't attacking or criticizing your post. In fact, I thought it was pretty neat.
The only reason I stopped going to our basketball games was because I graduated and moved away. I was at the Houston game a few weeks ago when I visited during the holidays (Payton and Long are monsters).
I've said MANY times here that I don't give two shits about the name issue.
