The university went away from USL to try to ditch the regional university thing in order to get better professors. I would have preferred University of South Louisiana.

It actually has been. There was a UL movement in the 80s, that's it. Local media says UL. The university always refers to itself as UL Lafayette, University of Louisiana at Lafayette or Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

There's nothing to disagree with. It's not opinion. The athletic branding was Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns for a few years then last year or the year before they dropped the comma to the top and went with Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. It's not the name of the university - it's athletic branding. That's what I've been saying here for a while.

Feaux branding at it's finest. Everything T-Hen is saying is wrong. ULL wants to make everyone believe this is the only reason behind it but it isn't. Your pic is proof of that. The baseball teams hats also have "UL" on it. This is all a stepping stone to become The University of Louisiana. Or as prairie Cajuns refer to it as "T" UL.

I did attend the game last year. Listening to ULL fans talk shite leading up to that game and then watching LSU put a royal arse whipping on ULL was money. ULL swiped up all the tickets to keep LSU fans from going. I was lucky enough to score a few seats from one of my vendors. It was like I attended a funeral, I soaked it all in. It was great.

As a UL-L fan (mainly basketball, somewhat football), I must say I enjoyed that game as well. UL-L baseball fans are the worst.
A CWS appearance 15 years ago and you would swear they've been back every year since.

That is what the real issue is. If it was actually the name people wouldn't care, but its not. The whole intention is to fool people that don't know any better.
Can anyone come up with another university that has similar "athletic branding?"
