I'd take Orgeron. He is a good position coach and great recruiter. He and Frank Wilson together again would be great. If we kept it legal.

He really just feels like he needs to shake things up so he's told some guys to look elsewhere for jobs.

Naw, people are jumping ship. Coaches and players are all wanting to get out the toxic environment. Why do you think Bama got smoked by Oklahoma? No one wanted to be there anymore. Players telling recruits not come was just the tip of the iceberg.

Or Saban hit the reset before the bowl game. Lot of practice reports where younger guys were getting reps before upperclassmen. That's when Kiffin was brought in, etc...

Just used the extra practices as a winter practice period similar to spring practice.

So are you saying Saban just wrote off the bowl game, thats why people hate fricking gumps. Because you are without question the dumbest fans on the planet.

Not by any means. I'm just saying it's possible he did not spend every extra practice on OU. In all reality, it was a fairly useless game. Winning or losing has changed nothing. We did not lose any recruits, nor would we have gained any by winning. If anything it served to solidify what Saban was already thinking needed done.

Only thing winning would have changed is we would have finished at #3. 4 spots higher...woot. If it isn't #1 it doesn't matter.

That's what I get for listening to Finebaum lol.

It can still happen but I think it would be later rather than sooner.

Well, Bama insiders are now saying it was just an internet rumor. It was never going to happen.

The thing that fascinates me is that Saban is willing to essentially start from scratch with his coaching staff. Given that everything he touches that isn't teal & white turns to gold, it'll likely work in his favor. My troubleshooting skills tell me, though, that it's risky to change a bunch of stuff at once, because if it doesn't work then you don't know which component made the whole thing fizzle.

New DC?
New DL coach?
New LB coach?
Lane "Bulletproof Hair" Kiffin?

By the way he's making changes, you'd think he just took the job at Bama.

Well, this is a Dawg fan thinking wishfully that's there's a fire to the "Kirby to UGA" smoke. Disclosure.

its the right time to change staffs since bama won't be in the nc hunt next year (I believe this is saban's logic). start getting ready for the next push with new coaches and younger players.

That's not what he said. Here's Saban's quote on this year's Sugar Bowl.

“We have an opportunity for a lot of young players to sort of re-learn..It’s very difficult for young players to learn during the fall because you’re changing all the time, game plans and so forth. But to go back and fundamentally re-teach things that you did in fall camp and really focus on the little things that guys need to do to be successful players and try to get them to develop better habits, which are sometimes more difficult to do during the season.”

Saban did not write off the bowl game. He did, however, start practicing for next season, as most coaches do. This was evident with the RB position, with Kenyan Drake getting 0 carries and Derrick Henry with 9 touches.

Oklahoma kicked Bama's arse. Bama was mentally ready to play - they came out fired up and scored on the first drive. I just think Oklahoma had a much better pass rush than Bama, and that was the key to their win.

Could be. But 12-2, 14-0, 10-3, 12-1, 13-1, 11-2 is most likely why.

Saban's way too smart to allow Kiffen to have one of his guys on staff.
