I had a work flight back from Hong Kong several years back that was in biz but overbooked. They offered me an entire tow in coach (propped like a makeshift bed) and an envelope on site with $3,500 cash (not an American airline).

Was it worth it? I feel like it would have been for me, but I've never had to fly from HK in coach

Gotten any new cards lately?
Like Buckeye said, pretty slow in the CC business these days.
Got my wife the Amex Gold Delta card. Really not sure why. I hadn't applied for a card in 6 months for her, so I figured why not. Probably won't see a 50k point offer on those real often. Maybe Bacon has some tips on Delta redemptions, but I'm starting to see why they are referred to as "sky pesos".

I did that US Airways deal last night, and got my fiancée the SW 50k offer a month ago.
I made it to 29 without a slew of weddings but now they are coming fast. B-parties we want to attend and non-N.O. ceremonies.
Eyeing Alaska Airlines card for Seattle some time

You looked at any award tickets in FC over seas? I was looking at flights to LHR and was finding RT tix for 162,500 miles + $300 fees. That ticket would be $6k normally.

quote:No, I just did a few brief searches to the Caribbean or Hawaii & domestic. It appears you have to be pretty flexible with Delta awards too. I do not like that you have to book roundtrips.

No idea.....
But yes, well worth it. I crashed shortly after takeoff and woke up a few hours before LAX. Easiest 3K I ever made lol.

Not going to lie... Most of my award redemptions are flights for my fiancée to fly home at 25k a pop everytime.
I got 2 FC tickets for 160K miles and around an extra $120 during peak holiday travel. location is everything with Delta.
I am pretty mad I won't use my companion voucher this year

Ya, that's the word on the street. Hence, no one particularly waits for the 40k offers, just churn the 25k over and over. Plus, they give you the miles the moment you're approved

They are adding one ways, I believe starting next year, not sure the time frame but soon.

I can imagine these get worse and worse (as in better) with all that extra wealth accumulation over the years.

Looks like I'll have to get her another card at some point to be able to redeem these and I'll probably have to do the same.
Guess it'll be a couple year build on.

quote:2015 apparently. That helps. Most of my award booking is done by booking one ways except on United when utilizing stopovers/jaws.

I didn't get instant approval on the US Airways but called today and it was pleasant and somewhat humorous exchange.
Lady is "Let's see here, you use your Arrival card frequently, good, all your lines are paid off monthly, every thing is pretty low, well....I have nothing, no questions for you. You've done a really great job, you're approved."
ME: "Thanks, you made me feel better about myself today"
