Mathieu's impact was phenomenal and immediate. His numbers and what he did in a short time were incredible. Peterson had an unbelievable impact at times too and was one of the best I've ever seen at LSU. Peterson was a better pass defender, but Mathieu was a jack-of-all trades. He was the first defensive back to make it to the Heisman ceremony in like 14 years or whatever for a reason.

Patrick Peterson impressed the heck out of me when I saw him start. Blew me away with his abilities.
Mathieu is a very close second. I've said it before but who cares.... It was almost like there were two #7's out there. That kid was everywhere and he has skills that are just insane. Glad he's doing well.
On offense.... hmmmm. It's got to be Kevin Faulk. I would say Hodson but that was in 89, I think.

Correct, Hodson was a product of the 80's. But, what I meant was if you were in high school in the 90's, who impressed you? Meaning, players in the 80's are available for consideration if you followed LSU football prior.

Without a doubt for short term on offense Cecil Collins never seen anything like him come through lsu but for a longer time I would say either Kevin Faulk or Jeremy hill come to mind but many others like reed Russell davey bowe Landry come to mind. On defense will say Peterson but Dorsey lavelas, and yes I'm sure I butchered that spelling, and Honey badger was probably the most exciting. Never seen a player make so much happen so often
