I love how people just know this. It really is funny.

Lea did call the timeout. The problem is he should have run a play on first down and maybe even second down. That way we never even have to line up for a punt.

This was just a few statements from guys watching the LSU game with us yesterday:

1. Why doesn't Les open up the playbook for Jennings?

Answer: Jennings throws pick 6 to let Iowa back in the game.

2. Why didn't Les go for 4th and less than 1 with 3 minutes before half around mid field?

Answer: LSU punted, defense got a 3 and out, Iowa punted, LSU got the ball at the Iowa 36!

3. Why does LSU keep running Hill off tackle in the 4th?

Answer: Hill pounds Iowa and runs off tackle for TD run which should have iced the game.

Maybe Les does know what the hell he is doing?

I was bitching (only a little) that they didn't let Jennings air it out in the 1st half. I understand now and was reminded that Miles knows what he is doing.

There are some people that incapable of reasoning when presented with the facts.

Yes, Les has had some fantastic luck at times and has had his share of major game managing meltdowns, but looking at the whole picture, he's obviously done some things very well. His personality and antics don't go over that well when we're losing to an undermanned Ole Miss, but the team has always managed to stay at a very respectable level. And with all the good luck he has had, he also had seriously terrible luck having to rematch Bama for an NC after beating them at their house with one of their best teams ever (of course, he didn't help himself by coaching his worst game ever in that one either).

I'm not saying some other coaches couldn't match what he's done at LSU if given the opportunity, but he has been pretty successful in comparison to all the other teams playing football in the NCAA. He needs to do better against Ole Miss and Bama though because that matters as an LSU coach getting paid big $$$.

I can,t believe we have a ranter from Oklahoma. When did they mean shite? Every year they are overrated& every year they don't win shite. Their coach is a total retard. And Bama is going to kick their arse tonight!!!

Ironic that an OU fan would call LSU a mediocre team with a mediocre coach on so many levels. OU, home to Big Game Bob---a coach who defines mediocre not to mention the last time OU even sniffed a NC, it was LSU that served up a big plate of disappointment!

Some people will never accept Miles

But if you can't enjoy the past 8 years of LSU Football, under Miles, then maybe they need to find another hobby

It's fricking ridiculous and sad at the same time

It's not sad. You just need to take your P&G shades off. I live in Nashville and I can tell you that most folks think he is just plain goofy. Can the rest of the nation be wrong or maybe you are slightly biased. Miles is clueless during the game. He is nothing more than a spectator on he sidelines, trying to figure out who has the ball. Really!!! He is a good man that understands what a good program should look like but his own coaching ability and his situational awareness DURING the game is simply not there.

I bet UT would love our record compared to theirs.

No one said he isn't goofy.

Yea, that's the kind of person that wins 80% of his games in the best conference in football. It is so easy.

I mean, this stuff is just comical.

everyone would be very very happy if it weren't for butthurtedness over bama's late success

fwiw, I am not in that number. I'll take New Year's day bowls and records that, going forward, put the team in position to make that top 4

He knows this coaching thing. It's just our own fan base that thinks he's as idiot.
He knows what he's doing enough to keep the program at that consistent 9-10 win every year level. That's satisfactory for some, not for others. The goal is to win SEC West/SEC Championships, not just compete for them. The way I see it, LSU is now a solid #3 in the SEC West. That's all that matters. Majority of legit Fan Base is not excited and even less so after the Steak Bowl.

You didn't see Les running around like crazy trying to call a TO? That was on a freshman QB making a mistake, not Les
So no-one called a play (that Les could hear over his headset), the freshman QB just decided to call one on his own?

Also, can you explain what the heck he was doing with clock management at the end of the first half?

Of course his completely baffled hand on chin look on the sidelines doesn't help. Like he's trying to figure out a really tough math problem.

To take a knee? Yea, it's a real stretch to think that the freshman just messed up.

Do you know what is more messed up? The idea that the head coach is staring off to the side and assuming that someone else is handling clock management issues. Really, not running a play is actually a "play call" in and of itself and usually requires some attention from the head coach.
