Concerning the rumors that LSU backed off of Williams to help with Speedy

How are you going to fill if we don't get both?
I know nothing of the situation, and won't act like I do. But Ive had a feeling for a few months now that he was going to be the hardest to lock up out of Fournette, Dupre, Willis and himself.
I hope IF the rumors are true, that he realizes what LSU is abandoning to secure his pledge. I know its ultimately his choice, and hope this strategy works out for LSU.

lock these guys up and there's no way Noil goes elsewhere imo

I'm not very knowledgable about the situation either, but I thought this was only an issue early in Speedy's recruitment. Not so much anymore.

if speedy is as good as advertised, he should have no worries about who else any school is recruiting

Fournette is as good as advertised and we sacrificed an entire RB cycle for him

if these players dont trust their own ability and dont think they can beat out anyone on the LSU roster, then LSU does not need that player, imho
you recruit the best at all time. true competitors don't shy away from competition

Considering Williams is a one and done - why would any of the freshmen WR recruits be worried? About the time they are getting into games good, he'll be gone. Dupre and Noil, particularly, will need to put on weight. Really only Quinn is completely ready to come in and compete for playing time, and that might even be a stretch.
Quille should have NO impact on our recruiting - Landry and OBJ are leaving early - he's effectively just taking one of those guys' senior year.

It's just selling points. For all we know, LSU and A&M can be on completely equal ground to get Noil. That may slightly tip the scales.

We did the same thing with Randle and DeAngelo Benton.
Having said that, Noil is coming here. He's a home body and he is going to play with the other local NOLA kids. If Quille going to AU for one year makes a difference then so be it. Take the 3 year talent over the one and done

We play a limited # of WRs in formations, mostly two, sometimes 3, rarely 4. If Williams is on the field, that's less time for Noil. A&M completely busted on their WR commits last year.

That's what I'm hoping for as well

Well, I think what will happen is that one of these smaller athletes will become the change up back. Whether that is 4 or 5 touches a game for Adoree Jackson, or one of the other speedsters on defense (Tony Brown, anyone?) - or one of the WRs will convert. It is inevitable.
Or we'll take a couple of scatback types next year. Hilliard staying will give us a buffer against injuryitis, in any event. If he gets back to about 218 pounds or so, we'll have Thunder, More Thunder, Lightning (Magee), and Even More Thunder.

Only way I can see that is if certain recruits just don't liek DW.

This has always been my point. 90% of the time we are in a two wide formation, I can count on one hand the number of times we went four wide, and sometimes we go just one wide with two TE and a FB. How many WR's do we really need in this offense?

Well, we are losing a few seniors, Wright, Fobbs, etc. We might also have attrition. Don't forget about losing Landry and Odell possibly. None of them really play the same position at WR.

We played 2 this year because it worked. Cameron will take the new, more mobile QBs (except Rivers, of course) and get more 3 WR sets - even with Desean Smith, I can see us going with single back and empty backfield with Jennings, Bolden and even Rettig. Harris is more like Jennings, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Keeping 2 backs in to block may still happen situationally, but with a more elusive QB, I see us using 3 WR a lot more commonly - perhaps not in base on first down, but a lot more often.
