The thread about packing deer out got me thinking...Do you guys gut your deer or not? I personally have not gutted a deer in years, and doubt I ever will again. It kind of amazes me that people still do gut deer.

Insider tenderloins are great

unless we are caping a deer, we do not gut them.
once completely cleaned, i lay the deer on it's side, make an incision at the last rib and take out the inside tenderloin, flip the deer over and repeat.

I gut when I clean them not in the woods

You talking about in the field or all together?
We rarely gut ours in the field unless they're waaaay back there. I always gut when cleaning because tenderloins are awesome, and I skin them out and let them hang in the cooler a week or so before cutting them up.

Always gut. I don't mind it at all, and I like the gut meat to be in one piece with no tears.

If it is cold enough to hang one a day or so then I will gut, otherwise, no gutting but will go in and get the tenderloins.

People I know who run dogs will field dress then sink in a creek so they can go chase dogs or make another drive. So no reason to do it otherwise.

I haven't gutted a deer in years. I do not want the heart or liver. I always cut the tenderloins out when we hang em up.

I don't gut unless we decide to keep the ribs and smoke them at the camp.

Cut backstrap and hind quarters off and throw the rest in the creek. Coyotes need to eat

if you had to drag it 2 miles, via cart or otherwise, you would gut it.
If I can drive the 4 wheeler right up to a deer, i won't gut it until i have to clean it.

We don't ever gut our deer, not worth the hassle.

Wyoming green jeans chewed our arse for not field dressing. If we gutted in camp, he could not verify kill site.
Fresh deer liver and onions wrapped in a tortilla is awesome.

Never at my lease. If I'm hunting public land and have a long drag back to my truck I will.
