I honestly think the Chicken bowl doesn't want us again and LSU will probably tell them that we really don't want to go there again. If it's not the Cotton, the Gator is probably the next likely option IMO.

Agree and the Gator wouldn't be bad.
For sure don't want the Chicken bowl again.

I almost forgot, South Carolina went to a higher bowl than us last year. And we were both 10-2 (6-2) and LSU had the head to head win.

murray is done for the year so uga is likely to be passed by alot of bowls

the Cotton Bowl rarely ever picks SEC East teams -- the last time they did was in 2005, when they picked 9-3, Eastern champ Tennessee (they would have taken LSU, but the Capital One Bowl took us over UT).
In 2005, UT beat LSU and we played in the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl ..

Lol
LSU has a better record than UGA, and Murray is out for the year. LSU is way more of an attractive pick.
That's just not true.

"My" facts are based on the contractual agreements the SEC has with the various bowls. What are your facts based on?
I'm guessing someone's said it 20x over the course of this entire thread (I ain't reading the whole thing) but it's that time of year and many people make the mistake you just made so it bears restating:
The # designation has nothing to do w/ how teams are "seeded" or how they finish in the final standings. It simply means a particular bowl falls in a pecking order as designated by the number. IOW, #6 means they get to select 6th. So while your reasoning is sound, for the most part, your facts are little off base.

....That's not how tie ins work.
Bowls are not locked into seeds.
That is the order that the bowls select.

I think the problem is not with your facts...I think it is with the intagibles that come up every year when it comes to bowl selection outside of the BCS.
Although I am not sure why people are thinking the Cotton wouldn't try to work a deal with the Cap 1 to get Mizzou. Although I guess any bowl would be happy with Mizzou assuming they travel at least decently.

check your dates again, the 2005 Capital One and Cotton Bowls were for the 2004 seasons

I'd like the Cotton but at this point I just want a good win against Hogs and a bowl win over anyone, I don't care if it's the Delaware State Scroties. We've lost 3 of the last 4 and that's a trend we need to reverse.

I mean its honestly not THAT crazy. At large teams must be in the top 14. We are 15 right now. Get one more spot next week. Bama CRUSHES Auburn. Mizzou loses to TAMU. USC loses to Clemson. That leaves the Sugar with 10-2 off a bad ending for auburn with other loss to LSU. OR 9-3 LSU CLOSE TO NEW ORLEANS who will show up and buy concessions fresh off crushing rivals TAMU Arkie and shutting down Johnny football. They are going to have to take the non AQ team NIU UCF etc. so they will want to put butts in the seats. Best way to do that is to pick us. If we had beaten OM itd be a sure thing. As is.....Bama needs to crush Auburn.......Im still rooting for auburn and take the cotton..
if this was the case they would probably pick a non SEC at-large
we aren't going to the BCS

and I wouldn't be surpsied if UGA lost to GT without murray at QB

I'm telling everyone now, if Missouri goes to the SEC championship and loses it will go to the Cotton. Auburn will get Capitol One.
Interesting..... were you one of the Capital One bowl reps who were talking to tailgaters before the game, then stayed at Walk Ons until midnight?

this
The Sugar Bowl is only obligated to take the SEC champ. If the SEC champ is in the BCSCG, they can do what they want.
Is there an SEC preference in that case? Yes, but not a 9-3 team over an 11-1 other power conference team.

The SEC's #5 seed goes to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl
I think LSU finishes #5 by poll rank (AU, UA, SCar and Mizzou in some order). If SCar can beat Clemson I would like to see a LSU/Clemson game. Not sure what the other tie-in is.

Just like LSU held the tie breaker over A&M last year. Or South Carolina.

If Cotton, then I guess it would be OU. Unless there are two upsets (UT over Baylor and OU over OSU) then I guess OSU. Hard to tell. If both are upsets UT is conference champ and OSU probably won't get a BCS invite. If Baylor and OSU win they both will get a BCS invite.
