Why do people saw the antlers off deer that have been hit by cars? NSFW

Going into the work the other day I saw 2 goobers feverishly sawing the antlers off a buck that had been hit by someone else. I mean they were racing to get it done.

Not the first time I have seen this either. What is the appeal? Spare antlers for rattling? Lying about a kill?

Some people give them to their dogs. I have no idea if this is what they were planning on though.

Better than that cheap plastic they make horns out of if I had to guess or those awful rattling bags.

A um yea a guy I know cut the head off a road kill doe so could use it as proof of sex of a nice buck he killed. Then hid the horns for the ride home. Green jeans would have had to dump 5 deer out of the icechest to figure out 4 of the legs were too big.
