Sounds like she was "encouraged" to stop pursuing charges. shite may get real...

quote:

A Tallahassee detective told an accuser's attorney that Tallahassee is a "big football town" and her client's life could "be made miserable" if she pursued a sexual assault case against Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, according to an exclusive statement released by the family to the Tampa Bay Times on Wednesday. The statement — released through the family's attorney — is the first public comments from the complainant and her family since allegations surfaced last week that Winston was involved in the investigation of a sexual assault reported in December.

He's not wrong. Making an accusation like that will have everyone looking into her personal history.

Maybe because the detective saw the height description.

The family also said that Angulo refused to collect Winston's DNA or interview his roommate, a possible witness in the case, because doing so would alert Winston and allow the case to go public.

This is the part that I have the most problem with. Is Winston or his roommate going to take to Twitter and tweet "Man, just got served a search warrant by TPD"

Yeah, I don't think so either...

Rape is a terrible crime. Only complete bags of garbage would argue anything differently. That being said, it is not even close to fair that lives can be ruined by a false accusation. Where there's smoke, there's fire is alive and is a real threat to the falsely accused.

Please remove that big long arse quote. 2-3 paragraphs and a link is enough. Thanks

Alright, so he encouraged her to not press charges when Winston had yet to take a snap at FSU, but, all of a sudden, this case re-appears when Winston looks like he's a sure-fire #1 pick in the 2015 draft?

It should be no surprise that something potentially got covered up by the local authorities in a place with a major football program.

So was the half-foot height discrepancy between Jameis Winston's actual height and the alleged height of the woman's attacker ever resolved?

I don't doubt most of her story for a second, don't get me wrong. I'm sure someone on the FSU football team attacked her. I just don't see how that big of a discrepancy gets resolved... which just means someone else besides Winston is the suspect. And that's fine, go throw the book at whoever it is. But I kinda get the sense that Winston's name keeps getting tied to this to stir up interest, despite the fact that the height discrepancy would more or less rule him out as the perpetrator.
