I was content to let my thread fade away into TD.com oblivion until" bayoubegalgirl" started hurling unfounded accusations and ripping apart the intent of this thread. Either "bengalgirl" is a butt hurt, family member of an LSU football coach or his frustration with this season has spun him into a bipolar rage. My advice- you need medication.

Not once did I accuse anyone of "malfeasance" or dereliction of duty. I said we need a change in philosophy (or the rules need to change as some intelligent posters suggested) to help us keep players beyond thei sophomore or junior season.

Others believe 2 down years in recruiting or 4 star athletes who have not panned out for whatever reason have contributed to the void we now see in our once dominating defense.

I agree to let "game changing freshmen" play early or any player who is projected to be a first rounder. The problem is that most of the players who left early were not ready for the NFL and would have been better served to stay another year. And we would have been a better team as a result. That is a "philosophy" that bit us in the arse this year- like it or not.

Sure, this year was unfrickingprecedented but a better plan/ strategy could have lessened the blow considerably.

I'm asking for intelligent input on this subject that I believe has stirred up many different perspectives. Your bullshite contributes absolutely nothing "byubengalgirl". You are one of the reasons I don't spend my life posting. Later....

Two years ago according to the rant Miles' biggest fault aside from time magagement was he did not play freshmen.

I think the key is make your players really good in college, and then suck in the NFL. then they will never want to leave.

That and Bama has players getting paid by agents so there's no real rush to run to the NFL.

Correct Answer! You have no idea how much money they are paying, none of us truly do.

The only problem I see here is that we tend to play down to the competition when we should be putting them away early so we can play guys to get them some experience. We have lived on the edge all year with no backup QB experience.
No damn good reason that Jennings/Rivers should not have gotten PT against Kent St, UAB, Miss St & Furman...and Ole Miss for that matter !!!

The Red Elephant Club pretty much controls the state of Alabama. Their best players who stay but don't make it big in the NFL are guaranteed lifetime employment at good/great pay. LSU alumni don't come close to controlling the state of LA. THey have influence but it's not the same. LSU is like a typical state university (which is good), but Bama is much more elitist. It's like a farm system for running their state. No, I didnt go to Bama, but I've been told this by several guys who did. It's just the nature of the beast.

Ok Drex I'm still struggling to understand your logic here. You say that most of the players that left we're not ready for the NFL. Then you say this is a philosophy. Are you saying LSU encourges players who are not ready to leave early? And then critisizising them for not planning to replace them? WTF

Well, who's fault is that?

OMG, could there possibly be a chink in the armor of the Wonderful Wizard of Recruiting, his great Recruiting Coordinator and his staff full of Great Recruiters?

They're leaving too many position voids and particularly not bringing in enough SEC Championship level talent on the Offensive and Defensive lines.

Players are getting bad advice if they come out early and get drafter 3rd round thru 7.

More times than not, they don't make a roster
