Anyone who doesn't realize we are in a decline in the football program is blind at this point. Just look a little closer.

It isn't as dramatic a decline that we saw at USC after Carroll left or what happened at Florida between Spurrier and Meyer.

That said, it is not realistic to consider ourselves yearly NC contenders. Hell at this point I don't think we should even expect to yearly contend for an SEC West Division title.

This is what we have with Miles. Win about 80% of our games, but never quite enough to make us truly relevant.

And in the coming years with the playoff, Miles will do just enough to make sure we consistently finish as the 5th team in the 4 team playoff.

Yeah, decline...right...uh huh.

Second most wins in the nation the last decade and most wins in the SEC during that time.

Decline...got it.

Eta: comical that you used the word "reality".

We are the second most competitive program in the most competitive conference in the country.

Everyone needs to relax.

There isn't a single program in the country not named Alabama that is competitive year in and year out as LSU.

Florida State will be joining Bama and others to dip into our talent pool. Same with TAMU in the upcoming years. Texas will be on the upswing once they shed Holiday Bowl Mack Brown and install Oliver Luck and great coaching selections. Auburn is on the upspwing. Things are changing against our favor. Many team now know just how important Dline play is (not that they did not know before, but they are really placing a premium on it, and our window of talent and depth in that area is degrading). Just watch

The Defense has been good consistently overall till this year. If we can't stop no one next year then we are in a decline. I will wait and see next years team before I can agree but you maybe right time will tell

I lost a lot of my passion for LSU football last night. There are three things I just can't abide about this program anymore.

3. It doesn't appear to me that this team has a whole lot of heart. They have athletes, to be sure, but what built LSU up from the smoking wreck that was the Curley years was guys like Gabe Northern, Todd McClure, Rodney Reed, Trev Faulk, Jacob Hester...guys who didn't have top-level NFL talent but played their asses off anyway and used smarts and heart to beat the other guy. I can't point to anybody who strikes me as that kind of player on this team - as evidence, Lamin Barrow is wearing No. 18 and I can't think of one play he's made that would remind anybody of the previous No. 18's.

2. Third and Chavis. I know the guy is a good defensive coordinator and I don't argue with his resume, but I can't stand watching somebody like Ole Miss convert third downs at will on their way to a 14-play drive to win the game. This happens more often than not in a close game and it's painful to watch. Maybe you guys can stomach watching your team bleed out slowly in a prevent defense; I have no use for it.

1. Quite simply, I can no longer abide the annual laydown against Ole Miss. It's a disgrace. That team could be down to walkons and they'll treat the LSU game as the Super Bowl. LSU can't be bothered to even show up, even in games they win. And they win anyway most of the time, but it's a disgraceful, honorless kind of winning. Even if somebody had made a play to save that game last night it still would have been a disgrace of a game. So while I'll watch them play and maybe even go to the games, I'm done living vicariously through LSU. The payoff just isn't there for me anymore. And I don't have any use for Miles and his $4.6 million-a-year mediocrity anymore; spending that kind of money on the failure to win championships strikes me as classic public-sector style waste, which I abhor.

I also want to mention this to you as well: LSU will never make you happy, and this is 100% your doing. LSU mostly always makes me happy because I've got my mind in a place where a fan's mind is supposed to be. I suggest you start anew with a new team. Good luck to you and them.

if you compare to best of the best like alabama, ohio state, oregon we are in decline but yeah if you're comparing to mediocre teams like o miss, auburn, tenn etc we are not in decline.

but we're paying top dollars to our coaches like alabama, ohio state but getting results like coaches who getting paid at o miss auburn etc

If you're disappointed in 10-2 seasons every year, then so be it, I don't really care. But when you say that it means LSU is on a decline, and you saying your stupid fricking bullshite is called a "reality", then you are making it really easy for me to call you a fricking retard, because you are one. That is a "reality".

Our fans are acting like spoiled rich kids. We're so high and mighty that 9 or 10 wins are not good enough

Don't think we are in a decline. I think we lost because we were not mentally prepared. While I like Les Miles, there is something to be said for a Nick Saban approach that rarely leads to this kind of mental lapse.

Heard this in 2008 and look what happened in 09-13. We aren't in decline and the season isn't over. Stop waiting for stuff to go wrong and just enjoy the CFB season.

2 years ago, the team went undefeated against arguably the toughest schedule in the modern era of college football but we're on decline?

You could be right, but hard to tell with 13 jr's leaving for the NFL

I'm not reading eight pages but I will ask this - so you have an inferior program if you are not a NC or SEC title contender every year or any year you aren't a contender that is a bad year. The Buffalo Bills lost four Super Bowls and were branded "losers" by many for that. I detest "all or nothing" thinking.

sorry but this is dumb as shite. I saw front end loaded. You played a perfect season two years ago and were a game away from another NC. Your QB lost that game last night. Not your coach. Want to feel like crap. Come to UF.

These are basically the same thing.

This is another overdramatic reaction to losing a game that we had no business losing.

:cryinglittelpussy:

We didn't want this to be the case, but this is obviously a rebuilding year on defense.
