That Commanders challenge was incredibly difficult if you ask me. You have to duplicate one of 4 dishes after tasting it only once. To make matters worse, the original version is plated up beside your entry. To make it even worse, the judges include the person who invented the dish.

I can't imagine that any of the chefs weren't intimidated beyond belief.

They did something similar a few years ago at Le Bernardin. Those are the two most straight up cooking challenges over course of show's history. Other things like cooking in a dessert are gimmicks.

I agree. I thought it was one of the most difficult challenges on a cooking show that I've seen in a while. Quite different from making something "similar" or making something up with ingredients.
