Wow this is really sad the physical impact that football leaves some of these players. That knee looks nasty.

He hasn't had a meal at home in more than two years because he can't be on his feet very long to cook, the Enquirer said. His house during the summer is between 85 and 90 degrees because he can't use air conditioning, or his knee feels worse. He has had the surgeries, the first coming in 1979, knee replacements and multiple infections (in 2008 he was diagnosed with the bone infection osteomyelitis, which was not identified for two years) that have left his right leg 2 5/8 inches shorter than the other.
I couldn't fathom having to make this decision but this seems close to the point where his quality of life would improve if he opts to amputate.

Having it amputated should lead to a much higher quality of life for him at this point, especially with the prosthetics being so badass these days.

I think that I might have just had the leg amputated a long time ago. I'm not a doctor, but it seems like quality of life would be a lot better with a prosthetic.

I wonder why he has had so many complications from infection? Is it directly related to the trauma and multiple surgeries, or did he go to really bad doctors?

Sorry to hear this about Reggie Williams. I'm not sure what his differences with the NFL really are. Seems we are missing part of the puzzle. Best wishes to him and I hope he does the right thing for himself.

I'm not saying it would be an easy decision AT ALL. I can even imagine having to make it but frick. I'd bet a pretty penny he'll be a happier guy if he decides to amputate it.

NFL to ban hits below the waist!
In other news, NFL refuses to offer adequate health insurance to former players.

I mean yeah, it sucks the physical toll it takes on players, but i mean at some point how can you feel bad for someone who's a the very least making probably 100k and way up a year to play a game? Yeah the game can take a toll, but I'm not having a cry fest for these guys.
