I completely agree on taking back Aminu... However we can still get Aminu if we try this trade. I just really want Iggy so I can buy his jersey T and McGee with AD will be an insanely athletic and tall front court with an above average size back court. Also you have to realize we are paying Eric Gordon ALOT of money

I do realize that but Iggy is 29 years old and really isn't very good at anything but defense. And this trade is just another hypothetical. Get rid of Gordon and we're back to crap like Austin rivers getting significant minutes. Gordon, Jrue, Evans has potential to be the best backcourt in the entire league in a couple of years(or at least very close to it). I'm not giving that up for a 30 year old defender and a nutcase center.

I do agree it will not happen because there are no rumours about it... But I'm just afraid Gordon's Max contract can hurt us by getting that one more superstar.

If Gordon comes out this season and has an All-Star year then yea trading him will be bad, but lets just hope he becomes an All Star this year, WE ARE PAYING A MAX CONTRACT!!

Nobody is giving a superstar for Gordon. The closest thing to a superstar we will get out of it, is Gordon upping his game to a high level.

He has every reason to. He just basically had a waste of a season where he rehabbed stringently and wan't asked to do too much in games. Now he'll have a healthy offseason along with an exciting new core with two backcourt mates that he's familiar with. He already said he's all in for the Pelicans, so now he can prove it.

I'm sure his point was more about cap space than trade value. Deal Gordon for a bag of potato chips, some expirings, and a second rounder and voila next season you have the ability to offer someone a max contract.

Whether Gordon ups his game is irrelevant. You could be Michael Jordan but if you only play 50 games or less you're worthless. Well, not worthless but certainly not worth $14+ million.

I'm still not convinced we lure any max level FAs that multiple teams are offering with all the space in the world. Lots of teams in bigger, more attractive markets cleared a ton of cap space to get exactly jack and shite over the past few seasons.

A happy, healthy high level Gordon is significantly more likely to occur than bringing in a max level guy to NOLA through a series of moves IMO.

We can hope Gordon has an All Star year and before the trade deadline move him

The next James Harden move where a team will throw everything at you for him

We just gotta decide ( If he steps his game up) is he worth the money and be this consistent for 5 more years?

Prior to this offseason I would tend to agree. But next when you have a team with Davis, Holiday, Evans, and Anderson I'd say the chances of landing a big name free agent will have increased dramatically. Also, I don't think Williams is ready to throw Rivers under the bus just yet. So any move that would result in him still getting significant minutes (i.e. trading Gordon) isn't that taboo.

My winning the Powerball is significantly more likely to occur than a healthy Gordon.

Also Monty Williams is now a USA coach... So we have the coach prestige to sign a big star

Monty has the knowledge to make players better and the personality for any superstar to,atleast respect him

meh maybe...how many bigtime free agents have considered San Antonio and they had a better core/coach for a decade.

I'd also add that I'm not surprised you see the Pelicans 'deflecting' offers for Gordon right now. Moving Gordon strikes me as something that wouldn't happen until after a few dominoes have fallen on the 10th and a few days after. Big name players will be off the market, teams will have a better idea of where their rivals stack up in terms of personnel and subsequently look to address their shortcomings. That, to me, is the opportune time to dangle Gordon out there to maximize value. That's why, right now, you turn down offers, leak to the media that Evans will be coming off of the bench, etc.

78, 62, 56, 9, and 42. Number of games Gordon has played per season during his career. I'll never understand why people think this guy will someday magically heal and put up at least 70+ games a season on a regular basis.

Spurs basketball is different... They get players that will accept roles. Superstars will not go to the Spurs until Duncan retires

Out of necessity. The spurs wouldn't turn down great players that had an interest in them. There just isn't much of an interest.

that's funny because Gordon would be a great fit in Chicago.

Danny Granger was the hot topic before the draft

He only has 1 year left on his contract, NO signing him would free up all that money (13 million) for free agency next season or they could resign. If we traded for Gordon then the Pacers would receive a longer contract in return. Granger would be only a one year risk.

I would want something else in this trade such as a pick or player. Problem is a minor knee injury turned into a season long absence and he is 30 years old. He should have a few more years in him if he can stay healthy but the dude can ball when playing at his best.

I really don't understand why people don't want to see how this core plays together to start the season. Based on the moves we have made this off season, we are obviously trying to get better NOW. Trading your best scorer for an expiring contract does not make you better. If its not working by the trade deadline, then we can look to trade him.

The situation surrounding our team is completely different than when he was traded here. His age and his scoring ability fits what we are trying to build. His value is not going to decrease from where it currently is. I like the idea of seeing how this young back court develops much more than trading for a 29-30 year old SF.
