I've used a hair dryer a couple of times. Definitely speeds it up.

I've used it before in the winter when I wanted out of the cold. And when I've had bad / slighty wet charcoal and it was taking its sweet arse time to heat up.

It's a fan mounted on a flexible snake light type of thing that you can clamp to your grill.

My family used a brick lined pit with an Electrolux(shop vacuum today) vacuums exhaust pipe in the mix to do a crawfish boil many years ago. Damned thing worked like a charm.

Kind of what I think too. I am never in a hurry when I'm grilling.
