Has anyone done this recently? I used to park at Bridgeside and just walk into the water on the Sand Dollar side of the bridge and fish the breakers over there. Do people still do this? The last time I went down they installed a bulkhead making it a little more difficult to get into the water.
I'm thinking about heading down there this weekend and I think with a SE wind, it may be a little easier to fish than the surf.

I'm curious about this as well. Was planning to go to Elmer's, but with the SE wind, what you said...

Elmer's was great last weekend though, with a south and south east wind, I think. But it was very low, under 5 the whole time I think. Caught nice trout on topwater and croakers.

Haven't done it in a while. I'm sure you still could. There has to be some where you can find access to get in.

I always did better on the gulf side though.

I'm curious how you SURF fish the BAY side period.

Damn.

So you park at one end of the island and walk all the way to the other?

But to answer your Q- I don't think I have ever seen anyone wading out to the rocks bayside.

No, you misinterpreted. Walking into the water on the Bridgeside end of the bridge, you would either be sitting in front of the marina or the pass. I guess if you are facing the bridge from Grand Isle, walking into the water on the right.

You can walk/swim/canoe/kayak to the rocks behind the island. Pick any set you want and you will catch fish.

PS just park at the end of any of the side streets and paddle/walk/swim to the rocks. I swear its only about 2-3 ft deep most days.

Does it seem like it's filling in behind the rocks?
