Doing a little window shopping, trying to get a list of rods and reels to save up for. I think I might end up going with the Lews reels, now looking at rods. Trying to stay around $100, and have found the Kistler Carbon Steel, Falcon BuCoo, and St. Croix Mojo Bass to be in that price point.

I dont know my head from my arse on this so ill just sit back and listen.

Falcon HD and BPS Carbon Lite both get a thumbs up from me. If you can catch Academy on a Rod Riot Sale, you can get the Falcon HD for $50 if they still carry them.

Don't bass fish but I really like the Shimano Crucial and Cabelas XML. don't know if they're considered 'bass'

Looks like Falcon HD is getting great reviews at a damn good price. I wonder how it holds against the BuCoo for $40 more?

Whats the word on the full cork vs. split grip? All I have is a split grip All Star, is it just personal preference?

JAB, how much do those Kajun Limbs run?

If you're alright with exceeding the $100 mark...go with a Powell Max 701 Spinning (great for shaking a worm) or a Max 704 CB for cranking. Working an A-rig or punching, go for a Endurance 775.

Man if you can swing it, try out a Shimano Cumara or Crucial.

I sleep with my Cumara, it gives me funny pants feelings, and I'm not ashamed of it.

I have an All Star now, which I really like. I dont think its the top of the line model (it was like 60 or 70 bucks). But from what I can tell its done a pretty good job at everything.

If I go with the Kistler, I can get a discount card for each order, but have read mixed reviews on their lower end models. Im gonna run by Academy and check out those Falcons, they look like a winner for sure.

I'm a big fan of St. Croix rods... The avid series which I'm not even sure they make any longer are superb...

That Ronco is a deal but I dont want to mess with a rod that has to be sighted in.

I fish nearly exclusively with Kistler rods. Their steel series is a good solid rod with lots of backbone and the tips are as advertised. They carry a lifetime warranty on their rods. I also have a helium and a magnesium series from them and the Magnesium is very sensitive yet strong.
