I'm indifferent as to whether or not they should have been canned. I know people keep yelling about South Park could get away with it, well that's because they have the numbers and advertisers know what they're getting when they buy ad time associated with that show. I doubt these guy's sponsors were too thrilled to be associated with the kind of people making fun of a guy that's dying of a horrible disease. Sports Talk is advertiser driven, these guys should have been smarter. From what I've gathered from the Atlanta folks in this thread, this show didn't have the following to get away with that kind of stunt

I think we ALL need to take a step back and toast Mr. JW.
With one thread post, you had 3 radio hosts on the other side of the country fired.
You are God.

Thank you for your donation.
The people who are so morally against the firing...I just don't get it.
Should there be no accountability in the workplace?
And why are they acting like we did it?
The company fired them.
I seriously doubt they fired them because JW called up the sponsors and made a threat ending with "...or else!"

Damnit HBT had been wanting a statement from the Falcons camp and he hasn't been around to see that they did.

But you'll never know for sure.
If I were you, I'd put it behind me.
That or go picket the station to restore the men to their positions.

Like I said earlier this is the station that does Falcons games
Wouldn't be surprised if the Falcons org pushed them to fire them

Now that these degenerate dirtbags are fired, the station's press privileges should be revoked by the Saint's organization and every restaurant, bar, casino and hotel in Louisiana should show 'em the door!

Has anyone heard another audio of it?

The story gets a little more ...

The other two 'Mayhem' hosts - Shapiro, who attended Tulane, and Dimino - finally apologized after they were fired. Shapiro, in the course of four posts on Twitter, wrote: "I love the people and city of New Orleans, always have, always will, Team Gleason I will work tirelessly to make this up to you.... 18 yrs ago (Dimino) named the radio station, I helped start it, today it ends but so grateful, hate if I disappointed anyone.... What is so ironic is that I went to Tulane, love New Orleans and love the Gleason story, what a moronic 2 mins, I am truly sorry.... ALS not a joke, bit or game. 20 yrs on the air, 2 bad mins on a show, look at the whole picture I hope. Zone was a great ride!!"

Live in Atlanta. These guys are really good and made a terribly bad call in judgement. They have been fired, which is what they deserve.
