I'd go to Cotton downtown. Good bar and very good food.

Exactly.

Monroe, being the culinary Mecca of the south, has a wide variety to offer.

I've never been to Cotton's. I'd recommend Waterfrot Grill.

Nice.

After I finished with my customers went to enoch's to do some work on the laptop and have a beer. Finished up, and enochs smelled a bit so came over to River and Rail for another beer and to read on my phone all the bullshite in TD, etc. Going to go to Cotton for dinner.

Reviews: Enoch's pretty cool vibe but lacking in draft beer selection. A little smelly and dirty for my taste, but not by much.
River and Rail pretty cool with the view from the porch, but the bartender reccomended a bottle over the draft beer for some reason. Also, currently sitting on the porch and they are blasting Matchbox 20. I'm not talking about the occasional song, I think they are playing the whole CD. I didn't come here to reminisce about the girl I saw in 8th grade geometry today.

I have stepped in Cotton on a previous occasion so I know its cool and looking forward to a solid meal and a good whiskey.

Got the Abita Mayhawk. Was a little floral and filling for my tastes. Got the Louisiana Blue Crab Gnocci small plate and it blew my mind. Very rich but one of the best dishes I have had in a while. Followed it up with the shrimp and grits which were good, but almost too rich after that gnocci. Was slow in there, but it was Monday night. I will go back there every time I am in Monroe.

Good. A tip...if he's offering a fish special, it's not because he's cleaning out a freezer, it's fresh and not on the menu because he just got it in. The fish specials are always solid, and seafood is where he shines brightest.

Used to not mind enoch's, but frick is it ever overrun with hipsters these days. Like the "trying way too hard to be hipster" hipsters. Will not go back.
