My parents are coming down here and we're cooking crawfish étouffée and sweet potato casserole and garlic bread and having apple crisp for dessert.

I'll probably get a call shortly because they are both lurkers and last they heard, we were having Blend of the Bayou.

Went to fresh market and bought some scallops and some Louisiana shrimp and asparagus. Will figure out details later. This will be for dinner tonight.

Confession: I've never cooked scallops, but all the cheftestant shows feature them.

Scallops aren't too tough. Odds are you've heard the basic tips if you have seen them on TV regularly

Dads far away, but doing some pulled pork, slaw and beans for me.

Happy Father's Day Olegeauxt.

I did a pork roast in the crock pot and have since made pulled pork out of it. It will be served on some of those divine Hawaiian rolls later this evening. We are going to the wife's cousins' place down the road where they will be celebrating all sorts of shite on their side of the family. I've been told they have a crawfish pasta casserole, salads, and a butterfinger pie. I don't put nuts of any kind in my mouth, so I will take their word on the pie. I'm taking the pork and will most likely keep to myself watching the game, enjoying my beer, and sampling a few pulled pork Hawaiian rolls.

Baby backs with a cayenne cinnamon rub and maple glaze. Trying it for the first time so we'll see how it turns out.

Eta turned out great. A perfect mix of heat and sweetness.

seared country style pork ribs in the bacon grease from breakfast, seasoned them and threw them in the crockpot. I will make some mac and cheese with processed american cheese. Not a snobby F&D board meal but my husband and his child will be thrilled and that is what counts at my house. I will be having broccoli and a salad because I don't eat that nonsense.

eta: the ribs will be topped with baby rays/spicy stubbs bbq sauce and baked for a bit to carmelize the sauce

He was driving and couldn't reply back to you. He got here and was confused and thought it was part of a group text.

In the meantime, we have changed menus again. I've been saying I wanted étouffée. It was on same page of cookbook as crawfish fettuccine. Well, she printed out that page and bought all the stuff to build a fettuccine instead of an étouffée.

It will be fine. We've still got the apple crisp and ice cream though.

Just whipped up some pineapple/cilantro margaritas after seeing them on El Gato Negro's website. I must say they are tasty.

Main course is some crosscut Asian style beef spareribs marinated in spicy Korean style BBQ sauce and then grilled on the Primo Oval. For a side I blanched then grilled some fresh asparagus. Very easy and quite tasty..
