Guided Duck Hunt.....

Looking to take my two nephews (ages 9 & 12) on a guided hunt this year. I took them a few times last year, but would like to get them in on some good action. Marsh/field/timber, don't matter. Any recommendations? TIA.

I know a lot of people will say it isn't hunting but if you really want to guarantee your nephews get to shoot take them on a pen raised hunt. My company still keeps two hunting leases but I haven't hunted them in the last 3 years but I go to Dry Creek Ranch at least once a year. I take my Dad every year the day after Christmas and we kill 20 mallards for a cost of about 800 dollars. It's a great time and I know it's not "real" hunting but it sure is a blast. It's also awesome that I can make an appointment for whatever time I want in the morning.
They release the birds until you kill how many you told them you wanted to kill before the hunt. The starter package is 195 for 4 mallards.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I do want them to go on a real hunt. Experience the calling and the birds working, dogs working ect. Looking south of Alexandria, maybe lake Charles area.

Always had a good time and success with Eric Rue, his guides have been great with hunters of all ages and skill levels

Douglas Sonnier is a hell of a man. If you call over there you'll probably talk to Adrian. She's been there for almost 20 years and is also super nice. Gunna run you 245 a gun unless you book early and often. It'll be worth it. If for some reason you get to hunt with Rick Hall and coyote y'all will be in for one hell of a treat

The only problem is the weather you can book the shiz out of a hunt but if its not cold it sucks sitting in a blind with nothing to do. You dont plan to go duck hunting you become a duck hunter.

Just North of Mer Rouge But Worth It
Me and a friend from HS/college took our oldest boys, 11 and 8 on a guided hunt with these guys last season.
It was a success in every way imaginable. It was a Christmas gift for the boys and they loved it.
Advise - get the kids good warm waders that fit. And take a skeet thrower with ya...they have a pond you can shoot over.

I've hunted at Doug's for close to thirty years. I've had some unproductive hunts there and I've enjoyed some unbelievable hunts there. But, I've never had a bad hunt. And the hunting is easy...a short walk in a rice field or a boat bringing you to the blind in a marsh. Very nice people, good food and comfortable camp. It will be "real" hunting.
