Why do the American jerseys say "Emirates"? Are we being funded by Arabs?

For some reason I had thought that game was in Reliant (I didn't think BBVA stadium existed in Houston )

Great pics, though. I watched some of it at a local bar, and found it interesting

USA Rugby will take money from anyone. Emirates keeps paying and they keep sporting the Emirates logo. Emirates sponsors a ton of sports team. complete listing

this made the 2nd time an international match has been in houston
last year against Italy the crowd was 17,500

this year was 20,200

The rumor is they're trying to draw a big time match and play it in Reliant!!

fun fact:

The only professional rugby game ever played in the USA was in New Orleans -- Bristol vs. London Wasps in year 2000. USA Rugby's Nigel Melville was the coach of the Wasps - LINK

I'd attempt to quote you Bus, but I don't feel like including the entire pictures in there...but what was the deal with the Scrums? Every single one of them the US was getting penalized, and the ref seemed like he had a stick up his arse about something. He had front lines so close together they didn't even have room to bend over it seemed like.

That is actually the IRB directive, for props to be temple to temple Referee Directive

Most refs over here don't set the scrums like that so I guess our front row wasn't used to it.

I feel the ref wasn't entirely competent in that part of the game and USA were hard done by some of those calls.

i can understand the aspect of temple to temple, but I guess what really got me (and seems like it would by more like temple to neck) was how he forced the Hookers (I think is who it was) to be toe to toe. I realize that will move everyone closer together, but it just seemed overly excessive to me and at one point you could hear the guys bitching at the ref basically telling him to frick off with his long pauses and constant re-alignment.

Yea I'm pumped ! It'll be my first high-quality rugby match to see in person.

One of the best part about living in Australia is finally watching rugby and australian football in person. Why won't these sports takeoff in the States :bagnhead:?!?!?!
