Tablet Suggestions

This seems like the best place to ask this. I'm looking to get a tablet here in the next couple weeks. I'm not too familiar with them as I've never owned one, so I wanted to get some perspective from some of you guys who already own one.
Preferably something that isn't too pricey and it doesn't have to be current gen (ie: I do things like wait til the Iphone 5 comes out to get an Iphone 4, I plan on doing the same with a tablet to save some $$$). I'm also not dead set on any one brand or OS.
Trying to do some research on my own, but like I mentioned earlier, I'm entirely new to this, so I wanted to get some added advice from you guys as well.
Any help is much appreciated!
ETA: This tablet will be strictly for personal use. I plan on using for netflix, streaming, and just your basic bull shitting (nothing drastically important).

Nexus 10 is probably the one I'd go with.
I'll throw in a suggestion for the ipad (3 / mini or newer) if you are like me and already have a few apple devices in the home. They work well together imo, but it's not soooo much better that you'd only want ios

My only apple device is my phone so compatibility isn't a necessity at this point. Great point though.
Nexus 10 does seem to be the tablet of choice from what I'm seeing around the net. Not too keen on $400, but I have a sibling who works at best buy, maybe she can swing a discount for me

How much are you looking to spend? You wont get much cheaper than $400 in the 10" range.
If you're going 7", then I would get the nexus 7 hands down. You can find it for $150 (I got mine brand new for $130)

I am happy with my iPad 3, to be honest. I use Windows for anything productive, but Apple products have served me quite well for mobile applications.
But they're overpriced, so I'd say a Nexus 10 as well. Also, look into the new ASUS Transformer Infinity.

To be honest, I didn't have a number in mind as I had zero idea of what the price ranges were. From what I'm seeing, $400 seems to be what I'll pay for the larger screens.
I was thinking the Nexus 7 originally because of price, but I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy the screen size. I may just do the Nexus 10 because of all the rave reviews I've read about build quality, software quality, picture quality, etc...

I really liked the 7, but I have a note 2 so it was pretty pointless to have the 7

Nexus 7 is awesome. I got my wife the 32gb version for Christmas.
