So as if we needed more distraction, Mou is pissed that some off the record comments got printed. Said something along the lines of it would be nice to have a scorer and that he has one but he's 32 or 35 who knows.

ETA:Or maybe he's just playing mind games with our strikers trying to get them to score. I mean they can't score less than they have been, right?

I don't think it's any secret but it begs the question why did Jose loan out our one guy who has proven he score in the last couple of years and/or why didn't he make sure and bring in someone who could rather than old Eto'o?

Wish he would even give Ba a chance, it sure couldn't be much worse.

I was just watching a highlight show on bein that showed Kalou getting an assist for Lille. Does anyone remember the handball in the box in Champions league that gave away the lead against Valencia in 2011? Whenever I hear his name, I can't help but think about him jumping up and basically spiking the ball in the box

Wasn't it just a couple of minutes after coming on too?

I think it was immediately after he subbed on. It was a corner kick in the 86' and he just swatted the ball when it was about 15 meters out and over a foot over both of their heads

Just checked, he came on in the 83rd handball was in the 86th. I don't remember any craziness after the game but we got 3 yellows in the 90+4 (Mata, Malouda, Cole).

How could anyone forget it? It was the most absurd handball that I've ever seen. I mean at least Suarez was saving a goal. Kalou just decided he was going to go all alley oop in the box.

Although everyone seems to be allergic to posting in this thread I'll bump it anyway.

WTF can we do this summer to fix our issues?

Obviously a striker. Is Lukaku the answer or do we spend big and, if so, who?

Also midfield. Hard to believe we could be in the market with all the young attacking mids we've bought recently but someone other than Hazard has to be able to create chances and score goals. Oscar has world class potential but is still wildly inconsistent and all our other guys (Willian, Schuerrle, Ramires when he plays up there) are fast and work hard but lack elite quality. F Salah, we need better.

I have no idea how we are even close to the title with our current attacking options but if we can add a couple top players to combine with our brilliant defense and manager we should be back to being a legit competitor on all fronts.

We sold a top 3 creative player in the world, so that didn't help our quality up top any.

While Lukaku is better than the options we have now I don't think he can be counted on to be the ruthless world class striker Chelsea wants. So I say go big for someone I'm just not sure who is a realistic option.

In doing so would we be basically be giving up on Lukaku long term? I doubt he's going to stick around for us to just keep loaning him out year after year.

I agree in that I don't know if he's ready to replace Drogba but I'd hate to give up on him and then him turn into just that in the next 2-3 years.

Honestly with Oscar's pretty substantial dip in form I'm just as concerned with getting help in the midfield to relieve some of the burden on Hazard.

I guess it would come down to what Lukaku wanted. I would try to use him a lot and feature a super star. Most of the top teams have multiple strikers and are able to keep both relatively happy (United, Liverpool, City). Now running the 4-2-3-1 would make that tough but there has to be a way to give Lukaku meaningful first team time but also have a week in/week out scoring threat. May be wishful thinking.

However, on the flip side of this you could argue continuing to beef up the midfield and trusting Lukaku is good enough given the midfield Chelsea currently has can obviously score a lot of goals.

So basically I don't know what they should do but it needs to involve one of the 2 plans I mentioned.
