A friend of mine made Lee Bailey's blackberry cobbler over the weekend and it was dynamite. Not too sweet and the crust was outstanding. For you dessert makers, here's the recipe.

Looks good. I'll probably try it out.

I made Pioneer Woman's raspberry crisp but with blueberries. Excellent.

I'll look at that one. I didn't care for the cobbler I saw on her site. It was more of a batter with berries mixed in. I've been dreaming of this cobbler ever since I had it.

Blackberry cobbler takes me back to memories of my childhood and makes old chigger bites itch.

Don't know about you, but the big blackberries you find at Sam's and places like that don't seem to have the flavor of the wild berries.

They don't have the redbugs either.

Yeah, it's not really a cobbler put more like a thin cake. It's still good though. Crisp better.

I like those buttery oat/flour toppings on fruit. It's different from a cobbler, but good. I'm a fool for a blackberry cobbler, though.

Dog, I hope I never have a redbug bite again in my life. Once was enough. I was covered.

Pick black berries and soak them in a tub of water and the ammount of tiny bugs that crawl out the berries is something else. I guess that is where all the home grown flavor comes from.

I can never get past all the shitty little blackberry seeds enough to enjoy them in a cobbler

I just stick with peach and use my blackberries for jelly

Okay, then try this recipe with peaches instead of blackberries or whatever other fruit you like.

Thanks for sharing Gris! I think I'm gonna make this this weekend. Haven't made a cobbler since December but it turned out superb then. Only glaring omission from this recipe for me is vanilla extract. I mix about 1/2 tsp of it in the berries/sugar filling and pull back slightly on the called-for sugar measurements.

This one isn't very sweet compared to most I've had, so look at the measurements when you're deciding about reducing the sugar. It needs some and what I had was just a hair short of being undersugared. Sugar on the crust helped, but there wasn't a ton of that, either. Think of getting a little burst of a finishing salt with an unsalty bite of food.
