Never had blue marlin, didn't think it was table fish...

Black sea bass is very good though.

Marlin is legit. I actually caught a baby blue in Cabo last year. Caught a big black as well.

The baby blue was damn good to eat, probably because I caught it.

The actual better eating fish is probably the Patagonia toothfish.

Killing them is definitely frowned upon, you wouldn't catch me in a restaurant that served it

Sometimes Marlin die while being fought. Maybe he's overseas and eating a fish that he caught that died?

Then why would he be choosing between that and seabass? I know they sometimes die but his post makes it seem like he's choosing from menu items

When I was buying seafood for my family's wholesale seafood company years ago, you could get fresh marlin from time to time out of Miami. The marlin was caught in South America and it was legal to ship in to the united states.

As most know, Marlin are illegal to catch commercially in US waters so you will never see any local caught marlin(also sailfish) on the menu. If they do have it on the menu it is most likely from South America.

On all this billfish talk, a lot of it is bad to eat. Swordfish, though, if it's from the U.S. is considered to be caught in a sustainable way typically. And swordfish populations in the U.S. waters were lower in the 90s, but they are way higher now due to convseration efforts started then.
