If you had to make a list - a big list - of all of the foods that would be considered traditional Southern cuisine, what do you put on it?

I watched O Brother Where Art Thou last week, and now I've been craving all things Southern.

I'd throw bourbon in the mix.

And sweet tea, lemonade, and mint juleps.

Also, ham hocks and fatback as flavoring.

You people suck. The very first dish should have been chicken and dumplings

The first things that came to my mind was sweet tea and cornbread with some black eyed peas

Not sure why that came to mind

I will simply insert what ever form of fresh produce raw or uncooked from your garden on a hot summer evening as one variety to be enjoyed. The already noted cornbread with some of those veggies makes for some taste bud happy dances.
