if they don't make a BCS game. (9 wins & in the Top 14)

quote:

The five BCS bowls and the remaining 30 bowls all have contracts with conferences or specific teams for this year. Contractually if there are 70 bowl-eligible teams, Notre Dame -- if it doesn't qualify for a bowl -- would have to stay at home.

However, industry sources believe there would be some last-minute re-negotiations between bowls to make room for Notre Dame. A bowl could "pay off" a conference by allowing the bowl to take Notre Dame instead of a team from the conference it's affiliated with.

it is for one year only, then-
quote:

Starting next year the Fighting Irish also can qualify for the Orange Bowl, where they would play the ACC champion. If so, the Irish would receive $13.75 million, sources said.

Beginning in 2014, Notre Dame will be eligible to be selected for any ACC bowl as long as its overall record is within one of the bowl-eligible ACC schools.

so basically they are going to a mid tier ACC bowl (IMO most likely to negotiate) or whichever military bowl fails to have a qualifying team.

So if they don't make the BCS they are probably looking at

Sun Bowl
Belk Bowl
Music City Bowl
Military Bowl
Poinsettia Bowl
Armed Forces Bowl
Independence Bowl

I'll go ahead and predict the Military Bowl in DC vs an ACC team is where they end up if they miss the BCS.

Ok friend.

They played one team last year and got waxed.

I'm tired of them getting special treatment for a legacy from 30 years ago.

They didn't get special treatment last year.
They scheduled @USC, @OU, @Michigan State, Miami, Stanford, Michigan.

They were one of two undefeated teams. They went to the BCS NCG. That's special treatment?

if a conference doest have enough schools qualify ND can then replace the team.

this happened a few years ago during the Sun Bowl when ND replaced a Pac12 school..

Terrible idea. If they played an ACC team, there's a 80% chance (I just completely made up that stat) that they already played them earlier in the year. That wouldn't sell tickets like another matchup would (I'm talking about the other side, not Notre Dame)

I hate that people can't take of the blinders and admit Notre Dame played a legit schedule last season.

Don't act like Florida(who didn't play bama ) wouldn't have given them a better game... People might get tired of hearing S E C but the truth hurts...

If your team had that schedule you'd be crowing about it like your name was Cheryl. They were overachievers that could have, should have and maybe even really did (Stanford) lose a game in the regular season. But in no way shape or form was that an "easy" slate. This from a fan of ND's biggest intersectional rival. Which means I did enjoy their choke job in the BCSCG just a little. Just not as much as most folks in this region. Listening to people bitch about ND and preferential treatment is like listening to androgynous Sociologists bitch about white privilege.

Oh give it a fricking rest. Florida was just as flawed if not more so than nd was . Notre Dame went unscathed against a decent schedule. It ended up being easier than it looked on paper but it was easily NC game worthy when they went Undefeated.

I would say hindsight is 20/20 but in this case it isn't being that Florida got curbstomped just as bad against Louisville. If you're just going to throw out the undefeated team who played a decent schedule for a flawed one loss SEC team who didn't win it's division you may as well just get rid of the rest of the conferences and just have an sec circle jerk every year.

Besides this was not even the original issue. The issue was ND being a "piece of shite school." if their athletic department is a piece of shite then so is 95% of the country.
