FYI, mine took almost exactly 60 days and I did the fingerprinting at the State Police office in BR. They had told me up to 120 days.

Are y'all's CC permits different than our pistol permits? We just go to the local sheriff's dept. and let them run a check on us. Same day service, usually takes about 15 minutes. Costs $20 plus $1 donation to drug task force

Functionally there's probably not much difference, but we have to send our application through the LA State Police, get fingerprinted, and it takes a couple months at least to get approved and get your license in the mail.

From what I understand they have a long backlog which they are constantly processing and it's only one or two people working on it. Who knows.

From what I got from one of the LSP yesterday that's involved with the CHP section. Before 2008 election they were processing about 800 new apps a month. Since Obama was elected the first time that went to about 1500 a month.

Post Newtown, they are running about 4000 new applications a month. Haven't been able to hire any new people to process the permit apps due to hiring freezes.

Good info. I got mine in 2010 and IIRC it took about 2 months from when I applied for it to come in. It expires next year so I am thinking I should just go renew it early so I don't have a lapse.

A lot has to do with the person filings background as well. If you are a clean applicant, ie, no divorces arrests, etc, then it will process faster. They are back logged bad right now and those with prior "trouble" are having to wait the 4 months usually.

Renewals are different because they don't have to rerun your background or fingerprint you. They just process your paper work so that should take no time according to my friend.
