I like it a lot better fresh, this one has about 9 months on it and I stand by my previous statement that coffee beers don't age well. The coffee taste stale. It's not bad but not as good as fresh.

Interesting take. I've never paid attention to if any coffee beers I've drank have had a date on them, but I will keep that in mind from now on when drinking them.

Separately, pains me to say because I try to support regional beers as much as I can .. but Timber Beast (4th time having it) just doesn't do it for me. Too much of a bitter taste and that paired with the high ABV and little else to speak of flavor profile wise, I just don't enjoy this beer very much.

R2R/OB/TW/Ave Pub crowd: I will def be on hand tomorrow for hop night at the Pub. Tomorrow is a big day, I have a second interview at 3, and I'm going downstairs (same bldg) to tell the guys that offered me a job yesterday that if they don't meet me in the middle on my demands that I'm walking away. So of the myriad outcomes I'll probably be looking to drink one way or the other.

Absolutely sounds like the kind of day where an A Pub visit is in order afterwards. As posted earlier, I plan on being there after work/dinner around 8 or shortly thereafter. I know O Brah is in .. Wise is probable as well as Dav and Bottomland I'd put them at 70%. Will be in touch electronically come tomorrow evening. Good luck on the 3p 2nd interview.

You'll know if it works out, I'll be going straight across the street to Barcadia to procure their best offering and I will def post in the thread. I will be through 3BD in like 5 minutes if it works out favorably (maybe 2 if my power play backfires but IDGAF get busy living or get busy dying). If it goes that distance I will reach out for electronic contacts for real.

See if Al is there (ponytail .. use to bartend at Ave P). Ask him how he's doing as far as encouraging them to get more good beers on tap is going.

email me at username @ gmail anytime. worst case I can force you to put me in contact with someone you know in a faraway city that gets great craft beer and then coerce you into convicing said person to FedEx me said beers.

I didn't look at the date. It was delicious though. They had almost every brewdog beer there. Cove is so underrated.

to all of the above.

6BD - Tallgrass Ethos #2 and some captains wafers. I'm nervous, tomorrow is a crossroads in my life. Mess with the bull, you get the horns. Bull is fricking going down.

Well I don't want to take down a Tiger bro. They should be the ones winning, right? I'd take down a War Eagle but there's no challenge there, and Crimson Tide's are too nebulous. I guess a (Georgia no MST LOLZ) Bulldog or Gator would be a decent replacement.

ETA: Ethos tastes better when I'm drunk.

I dunno about The Cove being underrated. Most individuals I know who have knowledge of craft beer say it's the 2nd best if not the #1 craft beer bar in the southeast. Maybe there's a bar in Atlanta that's better but Cove + Ave Pub .. those two are the tops from what I hear.

IMHO the draft/bottle mix can swing thing significantly. If a place has 20 things on draft that are quality, versus one with 5 with 15 good beers, I'm pretty heavily leaning towards the first. Just my personal opinion, honestly doesn't even reflect potential freshness, just a preference.

No beer for me last night due to a very shitty selection. After starting with a Corona, I made the switch to gin and tonic and never looked back.

It's overrated if anything.

Yesterday's lineup:
Tin Roof Bourbon Oak Chip Coffee Porter - Ended up being a really good porter, the coffee mellowed out while aging but the bourbon wasn't strong at all.
Stone Enjoy By 5/17 IPA - Still great.
Renaissance Brewing Black IPA - Not bad at all.
Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout - Always a favorite.
Southern Tier 2xIPA - Not bad either.
Southern Tier Hop Sun - Enjoyed this one a lot as well. Well hopped for a wheat ale.

FBD- Dogfish 90 on draft at my local burger joint

I want this as my local burger joint

I dont know if ya'll have Square 1 burgers in LA. Anyhow, they make a decent albeit overpriced burger but they do have a good list on tap.

My location had Dogfish 90, CCB Jai Alai, Lagunitas Pale Ale, Palm, Goose Island, Sweetwater and a few others on their rotating list of available beers.

I have mixed feelings about the Cove, not a great place to hang out IMO, but I still think they have better stuff on draft than Pelican House. As far as bottles, Cove is just interested in having the most. Which means most of that is fairly old, because they dont have enough turnover.
