It was my first time (other than a rehearsal dinner at the Metarie location last October), and I was really impressed.
Waitress was so nice and knew exactly what she was talking about. Her family is Sicilian, so she had great input on some of the dishes.
The table got:
Chicken breast stuffed with provolone cheese, prosciutto and artichoke hearts-breaded, baked and topped with a mushroom Marsala sauce
^ from website menu
Seafood Medallions, which is eggplant medallions with crab and various other seafoods in a tomato-cream sauce (this is what I had at the rehearsal dinner.. RICH but good)
A simple seafood pasta, I believe, for Jones' dad.
Jones and I both stepped out of our norm. I got the Stewed Oxtails in red sauce over tagliatelle with big Parmesan shavings on top. HOLY MOLY. It was delicious. The meat just fell off the bones, and the sauce was a dark brownish red from stewing for so long. I ate the entire dish with a spoon.
Jones had the Seafood Linguini, which had mussels, calamari, and shrimp in it. It was tossed in a garlic/butter/white wine sauce, which is his favorite way to eat pasta.
Everything was awesome, but I have to be selfish in saying I think mine was the best at the table
When I ordered, the waitress assured me that it was an excellent choice.
Atmosphere was a bit more close-together (table-wise) and louder than I thought it would be, but I didn't mind at all.
Side: A man who had to be about 90 was sitting near us with his wife and he was hilarious. He was so rude to the waitstaff, but it was hilarious to both them and us because he was so old and couldn't hear a thing. They had to call him a cab and help him into it. Cute.

It wasn't until after dinner that I saw you and R2R recommend the cannelloni. Guess I'll just have to make a return trip..

Great review! I loved it and want to go back. I'll have to convince myself not to get the cannelloni. Your dish sounds so good. Glad it worked out.
Somehow, I don'tibd the close tables and noise in a neighborhood Italyan joint. I look at it as part of the deal. We had a large table of big talking men trying to outdo one another with stories when we were there. Made for entertainment.

What's your point if you have one?

Yeah, the close tables went with the type of place it was.
The menu was very large, which I honestly love to see with an Italian place. I like to be able to get something other than Chicken Parm or Lasagna.
Their specials page was huge. I had a hard time making a decision.

Yeah, lots of choices other than the traditional dishes. I think it's a neighborhood gem. I definitely want to go back.

The cannelloni is an excellent dish that must be tried.
Glad you enjoyed Vincent's. That used to be my favorite restauraunt in town for most of my youth. I have been way too many times.
A few months ago I heard they were going to be updating their menu. I wonder if the Oxtail is new? I don't recall ever seeing that before. That is right up my alley, may be time to return.

That wasn't me beside you. I am never rude (shows poor character), and to my knowledge have never needed help getting into a cab.

Yeah that's turns some people off sometimes having such tight quarters, but it's their thing and they pull it off well .. unlike Rue 127 where the close tables and overall layout are just clunky and don't work.
Your oxtail sounds delicious .. I'll try that next time I go and get my gf to order the cannelloni so I can have that too.

The page on the left cover of the menu had about 20 items that she said were their current specials running, and that's where it was located.

The Canneloni is outstanding. Also the Veal Roberto (i t think that's the name) is incredible.
