Saltwater, freshwater, it doesn't matter.

I am fishing some areas that have fresh & salt water species, but there are thick weeds on the surface (or close to it) all over. I have a couple decent set ups, just looking for suggestions on what others like.....

Broad subject I know

I like the Super Spook jr.'s. Best color for me has been "Speckled Trout", although the bone/chartreuse and black/yellow head have gotten results.

Appreciate the responses y'all. Gonna definitely try out the top dog/she dog lures (any particular models/variations?) and look into the others mentioned. Been having good luck with plain old topwater frogs recently, but looking for a few other options.

Jab, you always seem to be a big help in these fishing threads....thanks

My uncle was tearing up the bass last weekend on a Texas rig near the spillway over a grass bed. And he's a terrible fisherman so it must be what they are hitting in the basin right now. I think he used a Zoom centipede finesse worm

The yum money hound is weedless and topwater. I use it for reds where the grass is on top.

I haven't had a ton of luck with 'em, but when they hit...wow, you remember quickly that it's worth it.

Caught a just about all of my top specks on the pink top dog jr.

If you have a few inches of water over the weeds, a wake bait can be deadly. My two favorite are a "swimmin' image" and a mann's "baby -1".

Also, flukes rigged weightless can be fished on top of some thick grass whether it reaches the surface of the water or is just below it.

A clear or frog colored tiny torpedo can be deadly on bass around small lily pads or over submerged cover. Fun fun fun too.
