I'm headed to Austin in a couple of weeks. Here's my list...so far. Need suggestions for a couple of openings.

Friday:
Lunch - Need something lite here.
Dinner - Truluck's (this is set in stone. Not changing)
After dinner, headed to the Esther's Follies show. Then going to East Side Showroom. I wanted to hit up ESSR last time I was in Austin, and didn't make it. I've heard the drinks are great!

Saturday:
Breakfast - Need something lite here.
Lunch - Trailer hop (Torchy's, East Side King, etc.)
Happy Hour - Uchi
Late Dinner - Barley Swine

Sunday:
Brunch - Fonda San Miguel

No BBQ?

I'd do Torchy's for breakfast. But Bouldin Creek Cafe is very good too.

I REALLY want to do Franklin BBQ...but from what I'm reading you need to be in line by 10 a.m. or risk them selling out. We're there a limited amount of time, so I don't want to spend hours waiting in line.

I should've thought of Torchy's for breakfast because I had it for breakfast last time I was in Austin.

Might have to hit up G'Raj Mahal somewhere in there too. We loved it last time!

I'll look up Bouldin Creek Cafe too! Thanks for the suggestion.

La Barbecue is getting raves. Franklin's quality has dropped with the onslaught of publicity and La Barbecue was just named best brisket over Franklin. No lines at La Barbecue yet.

is this true or has Franklin's just become too popular that people have to hate on it now?

Either way, the lines are too long and La Barbecue sounds like worth trying.

Hipster BS. "It was good before it went mainstream" I ate there a month ago and it was perfect.

OP, If you get there at 10:00, you'll wait no more than an hour. It goes by quick and worth it. Bring a little cash, they come around the line with a tray of beer and Old School soda. You don't want to miss out on Franlkin while you're in Austin.

Go hit So Co. Get a burger at Hopdoddy's or a slice of Pizza at Home Slice. Hit up Hello Cupcake food truck for a quick and delicious desert.

Others have suggested Home Slice. I'll need to fit in a slice.

I doubt we'll hit up the cupcake truck. Neither of us is real big on sweets and we have limited stomach room. Have to use it wisely!

I'd hit up La Condesa for your Friday lunch.

I think what we've decided to do Friday is check out the flagship Whole Foods early Friday a.m. and maybe grab coffee and a muffin. Then get in line at 10 a.m. for Franklin.

Holy Guacamole, when I first moved to Austin (only 25 years ago) I lived no more than 300' away from there.

Not really worth your time, it's no different than any of their other large-model stores.

Friday Lunch: Light food ,eh...
Elizabeth St Cafe
Waltons Fancy and Staple
Leaf?
Eastside Cafe

Saturday Breakfast:
Hi Hat Public House (limited brunch menu, but I love the Root Beer Maple Syrup)
Freedmens (Brisket Benedict)
Swift's Attic

Austin Monthly's best breakfast

Elizabeth St. Cafe is the shite.

East Side Showroom really does have amazing drinks. Half the fun is watching the mixologists work. Glad you're just doing cocktails...the food is good but it's extremely pricey.

I've heard good things about Noble Pig.

Been going there once every week or so since they opened. It's damn good.

But I don't really recommend it anymore because it's so far out of the way.

However, they'll be opening their 2nd location in central austin soon.

Whole FOods isn't a must go. Just more some place to stop during our bike ride and grab a quick something to eat without filling up since we'll be getting in line at 10 for Franklin.
