Yeah, that was it.

We can pull up hundreds of those posts from many people about lee echoing the same sentiments as your post about Shepard.
I hope he succeeds because I love seeing tigers in the NFL but if you are trying to use his success as some type of measuring stick towards a program than you don't have any sports intelligence. It's a pretty embarrassing angle you are going for.

Why does everyone keep saying this? Going on Twitter and whining about playing time is a good ambassador? Saying youre going to write a Tell All book is a good ambassador?

I continue to comment on this because I see a kid that had 4 years to crack the starting lineup and couldn't. I see a kid that couldn't see the field as an upperclassmen over a very mediocre receiving corps. I see a kid that has no elusiveness and dropped passes regularly that as a receiver, you have to catch. I see a kid who whined on twitter after the NC game about going pro, blah blah blah.

You want someone whos a good ambassador for LSU? Give me Jacob Hester. Give me Matt Flynn, who sat the bench and kept his mouth shut before leading his team to a national championship. Give me Patrick Peterson. Hell, give me Shaq, Kevin Faulk, or Tommy Hodson. Russel Shepard wouldn't crack my top ten of guys who represent this university well.

I get railed for saying this quite often. Shep was a prime example of a perfectly mediocre scholarship athelte and at times, came off as a whiney wanna-be who couldn't hack it and implied it wasn't his fault.

what did he do that was so much better for LSU than another player? Im not against Shep(when he keeps his mouth shut) Im against the people on here that tout him so much when he hasnt done much.

Did Eagles cut corner on undrafted free agent?

quote:

According to LSU wide receiver Russell Shepard, he and the Eagles had reached an agreement even before the NFL Draft was over on Saturday, which is a violation of league rules.

It also has prompted an investigation by the league.

“Yes, we are looking into it to determine the facts,” league spokesman Greg Aiello told Tim McManus of Phillymag.com.

:kige:

He is not a good ambassador of LSU and he has shoved his foot in his mouth once again.

Hahahaha it's on Sportscenter now and Chris McKendry commented that Eagles can lose draft picks in the future if this is proven true.

He's going to get cut so fast.

I don't believe what Russell is saying. He may have been speaking with the Eagles but he didn't sign a contract prior to the drafts conclusion.

And if he really had teams calling him in the 6th round and if he really told those teams that he had already signed a deal with the Eagles, then we wouldn't have found out about this via a radio interview, we would have found out about this because teams would have reported the Eagles so fast.

Dude is dumb and likes to hear himself talk, dangerous combination.

He said it. Muscona questioned him in disbelief and Shephard said it again. I don't believe that happened but I know what Shephard said. He also stated he "took himself off the board" after speaking to the eagles in round 5. I don't think that is even possible. Sounds like he wanted people to think he was in great demand.

I believe he said it but, like you, I don't believe it actually happened. The Eagles have to know they can't pull this kind of stunt.

I'm trying to decide which is worse. Shep and this boneheaded move or Montgomery with his tard interviews.

No way Philly would sign him before the draft was over.

I mean he was mediocre in college.

B/c he was played out of position by mediocre coaches and was thrown to by mediocre (at best) QBs.

He was never a Percy Harvin (or even Early Doucet) style athlete. He was a guy who made things happen as a QB in high school. Could he have succeeded at LSU playing QB? Who knows. He certainly could have had success somewhere in college as a dual-threat QB.

Can he play QB in the NFL? Probably not, but that never should have been a reason not to play him at QB at LSU.
