Loomis on LT: Mentioned Brown and Smith, but clearly there's no starting LT yet.

#Saints Loomis said they havent been more active on phones to trade back so far. But those deals typically happen when teams are on clock.

Larry Holder ?@LarryHolder 2m
Loomis wouldn't say the #Saints were more active on the phones than normal because of a lack of a 2nd rounder.

Loomis says it's a deep draft. CB and DL. But there's good players all throughout this draft.

#Saints Loomis: Guess this is the deal where you guys ask me questions and I do my best not to answer them.

Verifies multiple Ivory suitors:

Loomis said there's been plenty of talks with teams for Chris Ivory outside of the Jets and including the Jets.

#Saints Loomis on LT position. We've got competition there, Charles Brown and Jason Smith among others, but ...

Ive always thought it would be interesting to trade with Pit just so they could jump STL for Austin. We move back two spots and take jarvis Jones. Maybe pick up a 5th.

I wonder if this is true or if this is a ploy to get the jets to give up more for him.

He said it was a deep draft at CB and DL. That would indicate talent can be had later in the draft.

My guess is simply planting a seed in the media.

#Saints Loomis said the reason to consider trading RB like Chris Ivory now more than in past is salary-cap issues.

Loomis said salary cap issues have made a difference in possibly dealing a RB, specifically Ivory.

Which is something too many have ignored. I really thought Ivory's tender could have been rescinded when we got in that ~$2m in cap space range.

Less than 32 guys graded as 1st round picks

45-50 graded as 2nd rounders

The whole presser has basically been about the Saints trading back

...and Mike Detillier clearly went to the Bobby Hebert school of journalism. Ask long arse rhetorical questions where you're basically using the time to show how smart you are.

Loomis said you can't just look at one incident when you're talking character issues within the draft class.

Mickey is really going to have to thread the needle in order to move back.

-Multiple teams ahead of us want to move back (more than want to move up, I'm sure)

-Talk of moving up is just noise. Would be nuts to trade away picks to move up in a draft like this--too much good talent 2nd round and mid round.

-Saints will move back but "not that much", but...

-Getting a 2nd round pick in a draft heavy w/ 2nd round-graded talent is an obvious target

Comments about "multiple" teams showing some interest in Ivory is a negotiating ploy w/ the Jets but also a sign that a draft-day trade is a real possibility.

Really comes down to who does or does not fall in the first 15 picks and who jumps up to the top 14 picks (and who they pick when they do).

Been saying all along if Johnson falls far enough(9-10) I think there's no way we don't trade up for him. If we miss Johnson I think they'll trade back no further than say 24 and take another LT.

They clearly don't trust Brown and seems they are hoping Smith could maybe be Bushrodish.

Loomis and more than half the GMs in the league are trying to move back. John Clayton was just on ESPN radio saying that more and more teams are making calls trying to move back and the only teams that really have a shot moving are the ones in the top 5 or 6; he thinks there are going to be teams trying to get 1 of the 3 "elite" LTs.

Hearing that is starting to make me think they might pull an Ingram like trade if other teams are trying to jump.

Too many people I feel have the top 3 tackles mocked too
high because with the amount of talent on D at the top is much higher than recent years (mostly because it's lacking top flight qbs and wrs) and I don't think all these teams are going to pass on them (lions and browns especially).

Honestly the only team I know is going tackle are the Chiefs. The others have tons of holes.

Mayock now saying that he thinks there's a good chance Joekel/Fischer/Johnson go 1,2, and 3 in the draft. We may not even get a realistic chance to trade up for him.

Its a great thing that multiple teams are after Ivory... Gives us a little more leverage on what we get for him.

Only if other teams trade up. I don't see the jags, raiders, eagles, lions, or browns taking one.

The jags said they'd trade back and I heard the eagles would so they could pick up smith further down and get better value.

You don't see the lions taking a LT?! They are about to pay stafford stupid money and they literally have no one at LT to protect him. Gosder Cherilus went to Indy.
