Is the best character Snafu Shelton?

Didn't even know he was from Louisiana.

Speirs is pretty badass. He's just not in enough episodes, though.

Chesty would be my #1 if he was in more.

Ronald fricking Speirs was just a jaw dropping bad arse, but I'd have to say Lipton is probably my favorite.

Jesus wears a "What would Ronald Spiers do?" bracelet, but George Luz is the best character.

Most badass goes to John Basilone, hands down.

Real life hero, killed at least 38 Japanese in one battle on Guadalcanal.

Didn't play a huge part in the series, but still awesome.

They were ordinary men who rose to the occasion, and most of them went back to their ordinary lives afterward. You don't know who has it in them until they're put in circumstances that require it.

As cheesy or corny as it may sound, they truly were the greatest generation

Hell no any character in BoB is better. The Pacific is a great miniseries but BoB is better.

From every account I've read, the scene in Bastonge where Speirs takes command of Easy, runs through the Nazi lines to link up with the other company, then comes back to join his own, happened exactly as its depicted. Theres a nice little passage about it in Ambrose's book. The Nazis were so shocked, none of them even shot at him.

I always liked Lipton. Seems like a soldier's soldier. Does his job, leads his men, takes care of them, and they respected the hell out of him.
