Saw a post from Cochon's Facebook page that Peche is now open. Anybody been yet? Looking forward to some reviews on this place and can't wait to get down there and try it.

Haven't been.

Drove by Friday, I would suggest a hard hat and work boots if you go for lunch.

Have been and enjoyed almost everything on the small plates menu. Missed a dish and they didn't have the fish collars available. The oysters they're sourcing are unbelievably good. Pricing is similar to Cochon as is the whole restaurant. They'll have a Beard Award on the wall within 24 months.

That is great to hear. I can't wait to try it. The collar dish you mentioned immediately caught my attention.

How was the building? Are they still working on the restaurant?

The exterior is still being worked on, the interior looked finished. It's a nice space. A little bigger than Cochon with a larger bar area. I think there's a small raw bar near the kitchen as well.

I'm going to try it someday but I'll have to really be in the Peche mood.

Thanks for the reminder about this place. I just made reservations for Friday night.

Have any of you ever been to an event inside Calcasieu?

Yes, it's a massive space that can be adjusted to fit the size of the crowd. An enjoyable place that can host many different styles of parties. Oh, and the food is great too.

It is awesome. Went last night. Beautiful space, great cooking. Crawfish and spring onion gratinee was outstanding.

Really enjoyed this one as well though the ground shrimp and noodle dish may have been our favorite.

Will get that on the next go around. Its remarkable how light the cooking feels (because it is mainly grilled) but how substantial the flavors are. Lots of use of acid, salt, and spice in the various garnishes and such.

Holy crap I drove by Sunday and never would have guessed that it's open. Looked like it would be weeks.

Bounced around the menu and was more of a prolonged snacking, but I had gumbo, boiled shrimp, smothered catfish, chicken thighs, fish sticks, grilled mussels with fennel aioli, and peanut butter and banana pie.

ETA plus the crawfish gratinee mentioned above.

Crawfish/spring onion gratinee
red shrimp (may be the sweetest shrimp I've ever had, unbelievably good)
raw oysters
fried bread
spicy ground shrimp noodles
catfish/pickled greens
fennel mussels
shrimp toast
snickerdoodle sundae
cream cheese chocolate cake

eta: Now is a great time to try Peche. You've got all three owners cooking on the line. Can't imagine there is a better line in the city at the moment.

True. Plus all the top brass from the Link Group working the floor.

Just one meal. Two people, though.
