Near the end of the year Monty specifically singled out Vasquez and Aminu for not providing spacing so I think they are aware of the problem.

Monty also singled out how bad we are at perimeter defense/rotations. Burke doesn't help that one bit. He won't stop the Clippers 39 point fourth quarters led by Bledsoe and Paul. Or the Mavs, a mediocre team, scoring 62 points in a half against us.

Great reasoning!

I'm all in with Dipo if Dell thinks he's the guy. I feel 100% that his defense with translate and as a spot up shooter, he should be just fine. Also he's a slasher which is always good to have at the 2. Which is what he is, not a SF.

Though Monty has been toying with a bit of Mason at the 3 this year so you could see him playing at 3 sometimes. He's long enough to guard certain SFs.

Burke has just as many problems as oladipo. He's like 5'11. How is he going to help our horrendous perimeter defense, which statistically is much worse than our offense?

Yea, he's raw and athletic. Could develop into a great player, or he may not.

I'm kind of tired of those players tbh.

Based on what is available, I'd be happy enough with him if the Pels are in the 5 or 6 slot. I think he has some solid potential, but certainly isn't a "can't miss" prospect. Burke also has good potential, but I have concerns about him also (mostly his size).

I'd sure rather have Porter, McLemore, even Noel (who I still don't think is a great fit on the team), but those guys are going to be gone if the Pels pick 5 or 6.

He's got a very decent 6'5" wingspan for a PG.

He is also a poor on ball defender in college and doesn't pressure the ball well like Vasquez. Also lacks elite quickness to make up for his shortcomings on his on ball defense.

Bill Walton was an injury prone white player. Jerry west was a white shooting guard. Paul is the exception, not the rule.

Well my point was that just because he's short doesn't mean he can't be a great player

dipo's national rankings

field goals 61%. 4th
overall combined shooting efficiency 3rd
steals 15th
that has to make him the most efficient player of the year right?! can or would you replace ego with dipo in some type of deal. not including our 5th/6th pick.

I didn't say that at all. I think he will be pretty good. But I'm also saying is he doesn't fit what we want/really need. And that is perimeter defense. His offense will be just fine. The problem is good to great opposing guards will put up the same or better numbers which nullifies what he does. And quick/very good defenders will likely give him fits.

I was pretty bummed when Smart pulled out of the draft. I really like Bennett, but he isn't a good fit with the team. So that would leave only Burke or Porter that I'd want, but both are kind of high risk. I just don't care for Oladipo. The FA class is loaded at SG (by far the deepest position) and Rivers is still an option there, even if they trade Gordon. So it just isn't a need..

Am I the only one who thinks he'll measure out at 6'3?

I'm thinking 6'3.5-6'3.75 without shoes and in shoes 6'4.5-6'4.75

I like Oladipo, but he has big question marks just like everybody else in this draft.

His % are so good because majority of his baskets came during transition offense where he would just dunk it. Not a good half court player and disappears when you set up the offense and run it. His shot did improve a lot from last year to this season, but still don't think it's a good shot. I like the Tony Allen comparison. I see him as a 6'4 2 guard version of Trevor Ariza.

Every player in this draft comes with question marks. Just depends on which guy you like more than the other.
