I had a beer called the Icon, a pale ale, can't remember who made it. Some name. Can that be found bottled somewhere or what?

ETA: Please feel free to talk about any other beer at the chimes and if you've gone around the world.

Saint Arnold... the pale ale was their first Icon beer, red labels... don't know if any is still out in bottles. The blue has replaced it for the most part.

A black IPA. Supposed to be pretty good but I haven't tried it yet.

it's not too bad. the hops aren't really very present but it has a nice grassy flavor and the roasted malts are there for sure.

If you're in New Orleans, Stein's had a few bottles left in the fridge last week.

ETA: Bottles of the Red Icon. Didn't see any blue.

Absolutely. And that Icon Red was more of a Belgian Pale ale than an American Pale ale(which is hoppier)

See ommegang's Rare Vos or their BPA for more examples of the style.

I saw blue at Matherne's Highland and/or Calandro's recently. Not sure if it was both or just one.

Had the blue on tap yesterday (bottles havent made it in town yet). I thought it was pretty good. I got more hops than R2R says he did, but mostly just in the nose. The hop taste was a little muffled.

I'm a little slow and all but is the Blue a derivative of the black IPA competition St Arnold had last year?

Do they have 312 there, tried it at hooters recently and thought it was pretty good.

did you have a red bottle or a blue bottle. Icon is seasonal series from St Arnold. The first one, REd was a Belgian Pale Ale. the second one, Blue is a Black IPA or aka Cascadian Dark Ale

In my opinion, the black IPAs (Cascadian) tend to have "muffled" hop flavor. My logic is that the black malt balances out some of the hop bitterness.

For the record, I really like the Blue Icon.
