With the way this rules committee handles things, if he shoots 79 he could always sign his card for a 61 ...
They would just give him a two shot penalty and he would still win

When was, if ever, the rule changed to "as near as possible"? I thought you could drop anywhere no nearer to the hole? So when I saw the video I thought it was no big deal.
I always thought the DQ for signing an improper scorecard was bullshite. If you knowingly played "pencil golf" that is one thing. But if you unknowingly violated a rule and it was not pointed out until after the round and scorers tent you should still just be held to the standard of the rule you violated.
Am I correct in assuming that the scorecard DQ rule was written in and for a bygone age of pre-TV where a camera was in every players arse? And they didn't have an official with every group?
