Here in Mobile, Mediterranean-styled restaurants are popping up like weeds EVERYWHERE. Where you live, are you all seeing the same thing?

Think it is what we consider Greek/Lebanese in the BR area.

Been a few restaurants that have been around for many years. Noticed some place tried to open up a few doors down from Alabasha in Pville. Wow, bold business decision.

Just starting to Spread in the NOLA area. There is a distinction now between Greek, Lebanese and Middle Eastern. My current favorite place is Palestinians. Good people though, the cooks and owners are nice, I can care less where they are from.

NOLA has the all of the above, just at a mediocre level.

Place is called Shawarma, went there last week, pretty much a Togo kind of place with a few tables, I did not like the food at all, then I found out it is part of the Roman's family

Kamal's is my favorite when it is fresh and juicy, followed by Albasha

Both Mediterranean and Vietnamese restaurants are popping up left and right in the greater Nola area.

Most of the Vietnamese have ties to NOLA East and West Bank restaurants. They all seem to use Dong Phong for their breads.

I like it, both of those styles of food are always family restaurants. Rarely chains. I like places that try new things. Though hate that Thanh Truc stopped making Kolaches.

It's not healthy. A chicken shawarma plate with hummus and salad has over 1,300 calories and 60 grams of fat. (more than a Big Mac) Look it up.

Chicken shawarma is considered the potted meat of the Middle East. - (at least that's what several of my Indian and Syrian colleagues tell me) I don't eat the shite anymore.
