My Final Meal at Charlie's Seafood Today (w/ pics & video link)

Mrs. Rat and I changed our minds about the French Quarter Fest and went for a final meal at Charlie's instead. It was great of course.
WWL-TV was on the premises for a story that will air tonight on the news at 6pm.

For appetizers, we split a "Dirty Boy" and Shrimp Remoulade.
We each had a Fried Seafood Platter. The largest shrimp and oysters I ever saw on a Seafood Platter. The were cooked precisely - the oysters especially avoided being overcooked. Instead of Hush Puppies, there were 2 Shrimp Rice Calas.
Frank Brigtsen came by the table and we expressed our sadness that Charlie's was going away, but he said they would let things settle a bit and then they would decide whether to pursue a new location.
I also told him about my father bringing the family as well as entertaining big clients there to give them a true New Orleans experience.
Sad sign on the door.
ETA: The waitress said Frank owns the trademark for "Charlie's Seafood", so nobody will be using that name at this location.

Dumbass property owner's bluff got called.
Good luck finding someone to pay more rent to open something else in that dump (I say that, having enjoyed my one meal there. However, but for Brightsen's association with it, no way would I have ever ventured there).

Oh man, that sucks. I ate there several times when I lived in New Orleans. Was always solid.
By the way, I'm not seeing your last pic.

The sign said they're closing that day. I presume that means they're open that day.

Love that place, although I only discovered it about 2 years ago. I always got the catfish and grits w/ creole sauce, except I'd substitute softshell crab for the catfish

I ate there for the first (and I guess last) time in March. Glad I got to go before they closed down.

I added a link to the WWL video in the 1st post above.

Sad it's come to this, as Frank and Marna bust their humps, nice people that cook, serve, come by the table to visit, and provide some litely Brigtsen-esque quality for a very affordable meal at Charlie's Harahan.
Will miss their remoulade, shrimp and grits, seafood platter, specials, poboys, etc..in a dive atmosphere, not requiring special attire nor reservations.

LE, you from the River Ridge/Harahan area? Good friend of mine grew up on Hennessey Court across from Winn Dixie in RR.
