Driving there friday. Any places of not to stop for lunch? I would guess around Shreveport/Tyler, Tx.

Also places in downtown Fort Worth to eat. I will be drinking at the Flying Saucer friday night. How's the food there if anyone has been?

reviews seem mixed on this place online. though that's pretty much par for the course as far as online reviews go.

I've eaten at the one Houston and really liked the food. But I was also pretty drunk so there's no telling how good it was.

Reata
Lonesome Dove
Bonnell's

Are my ftw suggestions.

Otis rec on bbq is likely best, Tyler is about 10 or so miles from I20 and is kind of out of the way for a traveling lunch.

Shreveport has a couple decent spots: Superior Messican, Strawns (plate lunch), Noble Savage (exotic), Blind Tiger (beer and poboy), Yee-Ro Yee-Ro (greek/lebanese), Herby K's (fried seafood), Wine Country.

Ive had the pizza there and it was good enough. If you have time, check out T&P Tavern. Its in the old FW Train Station. Pretty good selection (Not flying saucer good)but the atmosphere is pretty cool. Worth a beer. LINK

Porky's in Marshall is also very good. About 3-4 miles off Interstate. Good BBQ, good catfish. Don't try and get in there at straight up noon. It gets really crowded.

A little further off interstate, but Brown Pig in Marshall is also good. It was featured in Southern Living not too long ago. It's cash only, so be aware if you stop there.

I'd go to Porky's over Brown Pig, but both are good.

I've also been told the Pecan Lodge in the dallas farmer's market is worth stopping at for bbq. Though i hear the lines can get obscenely long. Sort of like Franklin's in Austin.
