At IOA I like the pizza at Cafe 4 (near the Hulk), Confisco for burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc (near the entrance), and Mythos -- a nicer sit down restaurant.

At Universal only Finnegan's comes to mind -- Irish food and pub.

City Walk restaurants have good themes (and drinks at Margaritaville) but the food is all pretty meh to me, but I've never been to Emeril's.

There are a lot of tourist-y dinner shows nearby on I-Drive, but I have no experience with any of these. The Mall at Millenia and outlets are nearby as well and they have some good chain dining options (e.g., the Cheesecake Factory, Texas de Brazil, Maggiano's, etc)

Orlando isn't a great place for foodies. It's a chain restaurant town.

If you let me know more what you're looking for (kids, how much, will you have a car, etc), I might be able to help out more.

Mythos at Islands of Adventure is supposed to be one of the best in-park restaurants anywhere. Never tried it myself but that's what I've heard from friends living in the area.

This x millions.....for a Louisianian's used to great food place is a culinary desert.

That being said: Emeril's is good, though the difference between his NO restaurants & here is dramatic(if you've been to the NO restaurants then don't the ones here pander to the tourist market), Mythos is really good. If you have the time, Le Coq Au Vin is exceptional about 10 miles from park. Disney has better dining Todd English's BlueZoo, California Grill at the Contemporary Hotel & Cat Cora's Kouzzina are good choices. Belle Isle Bayou at corner of Hoffner & Conway has real Cajun & NO food.....Executive chef is from Houma & owner travels to Louisiana often to get crawfish, boudin, andouille & smoked sausage. E-mail me when you get to town and will try to help you out. boodreaux@fishingfloridaradio.com

...if you're dining at Islands, Mythos is your best choice. If you have a park hopping pass and can get to the Studios side, Lombard's is the place you want to hit.

...and damn that Green Eggs and Ham place in Seuss Landing for always being closed. WTF?

Outside, you have many options, including multiple Golden Corals and crappy Asian buffets. As said, Orlando isn't exactly the hotbed for dining. Not sure what your "area" includes, but I've had a tasty and cost effective meal at Manny's. Get there VERY early.
